We're looking for an
Online College Counselor to join our team on a full-time, fully remote basis, with an annual salary of
USD 75,006. You'll guide students through one of the most stressful and important decisions of their young lives and help them walk away with a real plan rather than just a pile of deadlines.
What This Role Really Involves
College counseling isn't just paperwork. It's helping a student figure out what they actually want, then building a realistic path to get there. You'll work one-on-one with students and their families, mixing practical guidance with the kind of encouragement that gets someone through their tenth application essay draft.
What You'll Be Doing
- Provide personalized counseling on college admissions, program selection, and career direction.
- Assess each student's strengths and interests to build a tailored academic plan.
- Guide students through applications, essays, recommendation letters, and interview prep.
- Track deadlines closely so nothing slips through the cracks.
- Advise on course selection and extracurriculars that actually support a student's goals.
- Help students find and apply for scholarships and financial aid.
- Run virtual workshops on topics like test prep, college selection, and financial planning.
- Keep accurate records of student progress and counseling sessions using our online platforms.
- Stay current on admissions trends and pass along what matters to students and families.
What We're Looking For
- Education: Bachelor's degree; a Master's degree is preferred.
- Experience: A minimum of 2 years in college counseling, academic advising, or a closely related role.
- Comfort with video conferencing platforms, CRM systems, and general online counseling tools.
- Strong written and verbal communication, with the ability to make complex information easy to follow.
- Genuine empathy and patience, especially when working with students from different backgrounds.
- Solid organizational skills for managing multiple students and deadlines at once.
- A creative, proactive approach to solving problems before they become crises.
Nice to Have
- A certification in college counseling or career coaching.
- Familiarity with admissions processes for international universities, not just domestic ones.
- Experience using dedicated educational or virtual counseling software.
