A client logs in from their kitchen table at 7 pm, nervous, maybe skeptical that a video call can do what a couch and an office used to do. Then the session starts, and it works — because the therapist on the other end knows how to build trust through a screen. That's the job we're hiring for.
The Short Version
We run a telehealth behavioral health platform, and we need a licensed
Online Behavioral Therapist to carry a caseload of individual clients. You'll do real clinical work — assessment, treatment planning, session delivery, documentation — inside a system built specifically for remote care, alongside a small team of engineers and fellow clinicians who take feedback from therapists seriously.
This isn't a call-center version of therapy. Clients stay with you over weeks and months. Outcomes are tracked. Supervision is real, not theoretical.
What the Job Actually Looks Like
- Run individual therapy sessions via video or secure messaging, depending on the client's preference.
- Handle intakes, write treatment plans, and keep documentation current enough to survive an audit.
- Adjust your approach as clients progress (or don't) — the outcome data is there for a reason, so use it.
- Loop in other providers when a client's situation calls for coordinated care.
- Recognize and escalate crisis situations according to protocol, without hesitation.
- Tell the product team when a platform feature is helping or getting in the way — your feedback actually changes things here.
Non-Negotiables
Minimum education required for this role is a
Master's degree in psychology, counseling, social work, or a comparable clinical field. You'll also need an active, unrestricted license to practice therapy or counseling — LPC, LCSW, LMFT, or whatever the equivalent credential is called in your state.
On top of that: at least
2 years of post-licensure experience running individual therapy sessions. Telehealth experience specifically isn't required, but if you've got it, it'll show.
You should also be someone who can troubleshoot a shaky video connection mid-session without losing the thread of the conversation, and who writes clean, timely clinical notes without needing to be chased for them.
Good to Have, Not Required
- Training in CBT, DBT, EMDR, or trauma-informed modalities.
- Experience with a particular population — adolescents, couples, clients managing anxiety or depression.
- Fluency in a second language, especially Spanish, Hindi, or Mandarin.
- Comfort with measurement-based care tools and outcome tracking software.
