Someone tracks it, reroutes it when a carrier falls through, and catches the problem before it becomes a customer complaint. What the Role Involves
You'll coordinate transportation activities from origin to destination, working with carriers, freight forwarders, and third-party logistics providers to keep shipments on schedule. Some of it is planning ahead. A lot of it is reacting fast when something doesn't go to plan — a delayed truck, a missing document, a customs holdup.
It's a remote role, but the work touches many people: procurement, warehousing, customer service, and the carriers themselves. You're the one keeping all of it connected.
What You'll Be Doing
- Coordinating shipments from origin to destination and tracking them through transit
- Managing relationships with carriers, freight forwarders, and logistics providers
- Negotiating rates and contracts to control transportation costs
- Analyzing transportation data to spot inefficiencies and cost-saving opportunities
- Ensuring compliance with DOT, EPA, and customs regulations
- Maintaining accurate shipping documentation, manifests, and invoices
- Resolving transportation issues like delays, damages, or discrepancies as they come up
- Preparing performance reports and sharing findings with leadership
What We're Looking For
- Education: Bachelor's degree required, in logistics, supply chain management, business administration, or a related field
- Experience: 3 to 5 years in transportation and logistics management
- Working knowledge of transportation management systems (TMS) and logistics software
- Strong negotiation and vendor management skills
- Comfort interpreting data and turning it into practical recommendations
- Solid organizational skills for juggling multiple shipments and deadlines at once
Good to Have
- Prior experience managing logistics in a fully remote setup
- Familiarity with customs documentation and international shipping requirements
- A background developing contingency plans for supply chain disruptions
- Proficiency across the Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel
