Online Curriculum Designer. This is a remote role, and it's open to anyone who's already comfortable turning subject matter into courses people finish.
The Work
Part of this job is sitting down with someone who knows a subject inside out but has never had to package it as a lesson, and turning what's in their head into something a learner can follow step by step. Sometimes you're starting a course from nothing. Other times, a course already exists, but students aren't finishing it, or the pass rate is low, and your job is to figure out why and fix it. The end result should hold a learner's attention and convey the concept without extra fluff.
Main Responsibilities
- Turn raw subject knowledge or outdated course material into structured online lessons
- Sit down with instructors and pull their expertise into a clear lesson format
- Add quizzes, activities, and hands-on exercises that make concepts stick
- Look at learner performance and feedback, then adjust courses that aren't working
- Keep formatting and structure consistent across different courses and subjects
- Stay current on instructional design practices and bring new ideas into the process
What We Need From You
We're looking for someone with a degree in instructional design, education, or a comparable field, plus real experience building courses for online delivery. You should know your way around common authoring tools and learning management systems, since most of the work happens inside them. Strong writing skills matter too. A lot of curriculum design comes down to explaining something clearly on the page before it ever reaches a student.
Experience as an
online course designer or in a similar remote curriculum development role will put your application ahead. If you've worked on projects involving
instructional design for e-learning before, that background transfers well here.
Nice-to-Haves
- Familiarity with specific authoring software such as Articulate or Adobe Captivate
- Experience designing courses for a particular subject area, like science or technical training
- Background in adult learning theory or instructional design frameworks
- A portfolio of past coursework you can walk us through
Compensation and Setup
This position pays
$80,000 per year. Work happens fully remotely, so you'll need a laptop that can run design and authoring software without trouble, plus a dependable internet connection for calls with the education team. Full-time and part-time arrangements are both open for this role, depending on what fits your schedule.
