We're hiring a Virtual STEM Teacher to teach online classes in science, technology, engineering, or math, depending on your strengths. What the Job Involves
You'll plan and teach live sessions and build materials students can work through on their own. STEM subjects lend themselves to demonstration and hands-on practice, which is harder to pull off remotely than it sounds. A lot of the job is translating what would normally happen with lab equipment or a whiteboard into something that works on a screen and still holds a student's attention.
Grading matters here too, and not just marking answers right or wrong. In math and science, especially, the value is in the reasoning behind an answer, so feedback needs to address where the thinking went off track, not just whether the final number matched. You'll also track which students are quietly falling behind before it shows up on a report card.
Regular Responsibilities
Some weeks are heavier on live teaching, others lean toward grading and prep, but this covers most of the ground:
- Plan and deliver live virtual lessons in your STEM subject area
- Build hands-on or simulation-based activities that work without physical materials

What You'll Need

Bachelor's degree in a STEM field, or in education with a STEM concentration, is required. You'll also need at least
2 years of teaching experience, whether that's in a classroom or already online. What tends to separate strong candidates isn't credentials, though. It's about whether a student who says "I don't get it" gets a second explanation that's genuinely different from the first, rather than the same sentence said louder and slower. That kind of flexibility in explaining is hard to fake in an interview, and it's usually obvious within the first few minutes of a sample lesson.

This role pays $60,000 a year for full-time positions, with part-time pay adjusted accordingly. Along with salary:
