Virtual Diversity and Inclusion Specialist – Work From Anywhere

Help Shape a More Inclusive, Human-Centered Workplace

Let’s get real for a second: Diversity and inclusion aren’t just checkboxes. They’re culture-shaping. They’re people-first. And they’re absolutely essential to doing great work—together. That’s where you come in. This remote role is all about building bridges, breaking bias, and helping real people thrive. You’ll be a champion of equity, inclusion, and belonging—right from your laptop. Sound exciting? It is.

What You’ll Really Be Doing

Let’s skip the corporate fluff. Here’s what your day-to-day might actually look like:
  • Chatting with team leads about inclusive hiring practices over Zoom.
  • Running a quick bias-busting workshop for a department that just doubled in size.
  • Spotting micro-moments where exclusion can creep in—and flipping the script.
  • Reviewing language in company policies to make sure everyone feels seen.
  • Holding space for real talk in team forums, roundtables, and check-ins.
You won’t just "consult." You’ll embed. Partner. Build. Rebuild. And yes, sometimes you’ll roll up your sleeves and run spreadsheets. But mostly? You’ll help real people feel like they matter.

Why This Role Matters (More Than You Think)

Remote teams are powerful. But they’re not always inclusive by default. Time zones. Cultures. Quiet voices. They all matter. You’ll help us:
  • Create truly inclusive remote spaces where every voice is heard.
  • Lead cultural change across teams that span continents.
  • Design equitable systems so promotions, performance reviews, and hiring aren’t just "fair enough," but deeply intentional.
  • Listen, learn, and advocate without making it about "checking a box."
And when something isn’t working? You’ll say it. With empathy, but without sugarcoating.

How We Stay Human (Even on Zoom)

Remote work can get lonely. We get it. That’s why we’ve built in weekly team huddles, virtual coffee chats, and opt-in support circles. We celebrate cultural holidays together. We’ve got Slack channels that range from #inclusion-wins to #mentalhealth to #bookclub. Honestly, the work’s not always easy. But you’re not doing it alone.

A Quick Glimpse Into Your First Few Months

Wondering how your day will look here? Let’s walk through it:

Month 1: Listening and Learning

You’ll sit in on team calls, review our current practices, and connect with folks across levels. Think of it as your "discovery sprint."

Month 2: Co-Creating and Testing

This is where you’ll start shaping real ideas. Maybe it’s a new onboarding flow. Maybe it’s a roundtable series. Whatever it is, you’ll test, iterate, and learn fast.

Month 3: Rolling Things Out

You’ll start to lead initiatives. A quarterly training series? A team mentorship program? A feedback system that actually works? Yup, it’s go time.

Who You’ll Work With (And Learn From)

You’ll partner directly with:
  • People ops and HR teams
  • Department heads and team leads
  • Employee resource group (ERG) leaders
  • Culture champions from every corner of the org
Some names you’ll hear a lot? Dani from People Ops, Marcus from Product, and Reina from Global Comms. They’re smart, kind, and ready to build better with you.

What You Bring to the Table

There’s no perfect path here. But here are a few things that’ll help you hit the ground running:
  • You’ve worked in DEI, HR, employee experience, or a similar space.
  • You know your way around equity-focused strategy—not just theory, but action.
  • You’re a great communicator. Written, spoken, async—you get your message across.
  • You’re naturally curious. You listen first, then help people grow.
  • You’re not afraid to ask, "Hey, who’s missing from this conversation?"
And if you’ve done this work across time zones, languages, or cultures? Even better.

Tools You’ll Use (Nothing Too Fancy)

We keep it simple and collaborative. You’ll be using:
  • Zoom (obviously)
  • Slack (for all the team banter and updates)
  • Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides)
  • Notion or similar tools for documentation
  • Survey tools like Culture Amp or Typeform
No heavy tech stack. Just people-first systems that help you get things done.

Pay, Perks, and All the Rest

  • Salary: $97,000/year, paid monthly
  • Full-time, fully remote
  • Flexible schedule with core overlap hours
  • 4-day workweek pilot in progress
  • Home office stipend + coworking budget
  • Mental health support + wellness allowance
  • Professional development fund
  • Generous time off: vacation, personal days, cultural holidays
Plus: you’ll get to work with a team that actually walks the talk.

A Few Stories That Made Us Proud

Just to give you a feel for the work:
  • Last year, one of our ERGs helped rewrite our parental leave policy. They saw a gap, spoke up, and we backed them.
  • During Black History Month, we didn’t just post on social. We hosted paid speakers, funded Black-led nonprofits, and launched an internal mentorship circle.
  • After a team feedback survey, we realized some onboarding flows were unintentionally excluding international hires. Within 3 weeks, you better believe we fixed it.
We’re not perfect. But we’re real, and we’re trying.

This Might Be Right for You If...

  • You believe equity and inclusion work should be baked into everything.
  • You can hold space for tough conversations without shutting people down.
  • You love systems thinking, but also trust your gut.
  • You’ve seen performative DEI—and know how to build the opposite.
  • You’re comfortable saying, "Let’s rethink this."

Ready to Bring Your Whole Self to Work?

We’re building something real here. A place where people feel genuinely welcomed, valued, and comfortable being themselves. Not just on paper, but in practice. If that sounds like your kind of work, we can’t wait to meet you.
