Virtual Cloud Accounting Specialist

📍 Anywhere 🏷️ Finance & Accounting 💰 $85,929 / year
A client used to burn hours every week reconciling numbers across three separate spreadsheets, never quite trusting the total by the time she finished. Moving her onto a real cloud accounting system cut that down to twenty minutes. First time in years she actually believed the number in front of her. That shift — from unsure to confident — is basically what this role is about.

The Role

As a Virtual Cloud Accounting Specialist, you'll manage financial records and offer real guidance for clients using platforms like QuickBooks Online and Xero. Not just data entry. You're helping businesses understand where they actually stand financially and make better decisions as a result. Fully remote, $85,929 a year.

Responsibilities

  • Handle day-to-day bookkeeping across cloud platforms — payables, receivables, payroll
  • Move clients off legacy accounting systems onto cloud platforms without breaking anything along the way
  • Prepare and maintain financial statements and reports that are actually accurate
  • Reconcile bank statements, credit card transactions, and other financial data on a regular basis
  • Support tax prep and filing in line with whatever regulations apply
  • Build budgets and cash flow forecasts clients can genuinely plan around
  • Spot inefficiencies in a client's financial process and fix them — automation, where it makes sense
  • Train clients on their own cloud accounting tools so they're not lost in them

What You'll Need

This role requires a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a closely related field. You'll also need a minimum of 3 years in accounting or financial management, ideally with real hands-on time in cloud platforms already.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
  • 3+ years in accounting or financial management
  • Actual experience with cloud accounting platforms — QuickBooks Online, Xero, Sage
  • Strong Excel skills, plus comfort with other financial analysis tools
  • Can turn raw financial data into something a client can act on, not just a report they skim
  • Explains financial concepts clearly, without losing a non-accountant halfway through

What Strengthens Your Application

  • CPA or an equivalent professional certification
  • Experience with automation tools and integrations across financial workflows
  • Managed multiple client accounts at once before, and didn't drop any balls
  • Adapts fast when new accounting tech or processes show up

What a Week Can Look Like

Some days are close, detailed reconciliation work — matching transactions and catching discrepancies before they turn into a bigger headache. Other days are client calls, walking someone through a cash flow forecast, or explaining why one expense category matters more than they thought. Migration projects run on their own timeline, moving a client's records over carefully enough that nothing gets lost in the process. The mix shifts week to week. Accuracy and clear communication don't.

Pay and Benefits

  • $85,929 annually
  • Fully remote, flexible schedule
  • Support for training, certifications, and career growth in cloud accounting
  • A team that actually values new ideas over rigid process
  • Real attention to work-life balance — not a throwaway line in a posting

Who Tends to Do Well Here

Strong candidates are genuinely comfortable with tech, not just tolerant of it — the type who sees a clunky manual process and starts thinking about how to automate it before anyone asks. Naukri Mitra has placed people in similar roles who came from traditional bookkeeping backgrounds and adjusted fine once they got comfortable with cloud tools. The accounting fundamentals carry over. The tools are just different.

Client Relationships

You're acting as a trusted advisor here, not someone who just processes numbers and moves on. Answer questions promptly. Flag financial risk before it grows into something bigger. Build enough trust that a client comes to you before a problem gets serious, not after it already has.

Where It Gets Genuinely Hard

Migrating a client off an old system without breaking their operations takes real care — rush it, and you risk losing data or breaking something they depend on daily. Tax rules shift, sometimes with little warning, so staying current is an ongoing effort, not a box you check once. None of this is unusual for the field. It does need someone who stays organized under pressure, not just someone who's great when things are calm.

Apply

If you're ready to bring real accounting expertise and genuine tech comfort together in a role that actually moves client businesses forward, apply. Candidates from diverse backgrounds are welcome, and applications get reviewed as they come in.
