A Day That Might Happen
Morning starts with a licensing draft from a SaaS client — the indemnification section is broader than it should be, so you rework it before lunch. A founder calls with questions about a cloud services agreement; you skip the jargon and tell them what actually matters. In the afternoon, there's a negotiation with a vendor's counsel over outsourcing terms, where you hold your ground on the points that count and let the rest go. Before signing off, you review a fintech client's digital commerce policy, weighing compliance against how it'll actually feel to a user as they click through it.
Responsibilities
- Draft and negotiate SaaS licensing agreements, cloud service contracts, and software development agreements
- Structure outsourcing and vendor agreements without letting negotiations stall momentum
- Advise fintech and e-commerce clients on digital commerce policies and platform terms
- Resolve intellectual property ownership questions that come up in joint development or collaborations
- Support digital marketplace and partnership agreements as new products go live
- Break down contract risk in language non-lawyers can actually act on
- Stay current on technology licensing standards and update templates accordingly
Qualifications
Minimum education required:
Bachelor's degree (law degree, consistent with bar admission requirements in the relevant jurisdiction). Minimum experience:
3 years practicing technology transactions, licensing, or commercial contract law — this isn't an entry-level seat.
Beyond the baseline, you should have a track record of actually closing SaaS and licensing deals, not just marking up templates. Solid grounding in how IP ownership questions play out in software projects. Negotiation instincts sharp enough to know when to push and when a point isn't worth the fight. And because this is remote work, you'll need to manage your own time across time zones without someone checking in every hour.
Good to Have, Not Required
- In-house experience at a SaaS, fintech, or e-commerce company
- Familiarity with data privacy frameworks that touch digital commerce
- Cross-border licensing or outsourcing experience
- Bar admission in more than one jurisdiction

The salary for this role is
$106,626 annually. Beyond that:
