Key Responsibilities

Network Operations and Monitoring

  • Design, configure, and manage internal network infrastructure, including firewalls, switches, and wireless access points.
  • Establish secure remote access protocols and maintain robust VPN environments for global users.
  • Monitor bandwidth utilization and latency metrics to optimize throughput for core applications.
  • Utilize tools such as Wireshark and NetFlow analyzers to diagnose issues and prevent future disruptions.

Systems Administration

  • Administer hybrid server environments, including cloud-based and on-premises Windows and Linux servers.
  • Manage and support Active Directory, Azure AD, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy objects.
  • Perform OS patching, upgrade planning, and backup/restore activities by SLAs.
  • Leverage scripting to automate backups, log analysis, and configuration tasks.

Security and Compliance

  • Develop and maintain security hardening procedures for endpoints, servers, and networking devices.
  • Implement multi-factor authentication (MFA), access controls, and advanced security measures to safeguard information both during transfer and while stored.
  • Perform regular security audits, vulnerability scans, and compliance checks.
  • Partner with cybersecurity teams to create and test incident response playbooks.

Support and Collaboration

  • Act as a Tier-3 escalation point for IT operations and support personnel across departments.
  • Participate in architectural reviews and contribute to infrastructure roadmaps.
  • Help onboard new engineers by maintaining accurate documentation and mentoring team members.
  • Coordinate disaster recovery drills and business continuity plans with other stakeholders.

Tools and Technologies

Networking

  • Cisco Meraki, pfSense, Ubiquiti UniFi, NetFlow tools, and Wireshark

Servers and Cloud Platforms

  • Microsoft Azure, AWS EC2, VMware vSphere, Hyper-V, Linux (Ubuntu/RHEL)

Automation and Scripting

  • Proficiency in PowerShell, Python, Bash, and use of APIs for infrastructure-as-code

Monitoring and Provisioning

  • Zabbix, Nagios, SolarWinds, Datadog, Ansible, and Terraform for proactive maintenance and deployment

Qualifications and Competencies

Required Experience

  • Minimum 4 years of hands-on experience in network or systems administration roles
  • Prior exposure to managing distributed environments with remote and hybrid access
  • Solid grasp of routing, switching, and cloud-hosted infrastructure

Certifications (Preferred but Not Mandatory)

  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate
  • Cisco CCNA (or higher)
  • CompTIA Network+ / Security+
  • RHCSA or Linux+ for system-focused candidates

Core Technical Skills

  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP, DNS resolution, and network troubleshooting
  • Familiarity with system imaging, patch management, and log aggregation
  • Experience working with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps principles is a plus
