Behind every funded project sits a stack of applications that didn't make the cut, and a handful that did — because someone read them closely enough to tell the difference. That's the work here. As a
Remote Grant Application Reviewer, you'll evaluate funding proposals against clear criteria and make sure the decisions behind them hold up.
What the Role Involves
Organizations submit grant applications in hopes of funding. Your job is to read them carefully, score them against established criteria, and write feedback that's actually useful — whether the application succeeds or not. This isn't a rubber-stamp process. Every review needs to be fair, consistent, and backed by real reasoning.
You'll work most of the time independently, but the review process itself is a team effort. Program managers and other reviewers rely on your assessments lining up with program goals.
What You'll Be Doing
- Reviewing grant applications for completeness, accuracy, and alignment with funding priorities
- Judging whether proposed projects are realistic and likely to deliver meaningful results
- Scoring applications using established rubrics and evaluation criteria
- Writing detailed, constructive feedback for applicants
- Collaborating with program managers and other reviewers on evaluation outcomes
- Maintaining accurate records of scores, feedback, and review decisions
- Compiling reports on review status and outcomes
- Flagging ways to improve the review process itself, not just the applications passing through it
What We're Looking For
- Education: Bachelor's degree required, in nonprofit management, public administration, business administration, or a related field
- Experience: Minimum 3 years in grant writing, grant management, or a related field
- Strong analytical skills — you need to assess complex proposals objectively, not just skim them
- Clear written communication, since feedback needs to actually help applicants improve
- Comfort managing multiple applications and deadlines without losing track of details
- Experience with online grant management systems or similar software
Good to Have
- Direct experience reviewing or evaluating grant applications
- A certification related to grant management or nonprofit administration
- Familiarity with a range of funding program types and eligibility criteria
- Experience refining evaluation rubrics or review guidelines
How the Work Gets Done
Deadlines matter here — grant cycles don't wait, so while your hours are flexible, review timelines aren't. You'll join virtual meetings with program managers and fellow reviewers to talk through evaluations and keep everyone's scoring consistent. Roles like this posted through
Naukri Mitra tend to attract people who like structured, detail-heavy work with a clear purpose, and that's exactly what this is.
Confidentiality matters too. Applicant information stays secure throughout the process, and that's treated as a baseline expectation, not an afterthought.

Who Does Well in This Role
This fits someone who can read a proposal critically without losing objectivity, and who's comfortable delivering honest feedback even when an application falls short.
