Remote Diversity and Equity Manager

📍 Anywhere 🏷️ Social Services 💰 $115,960 / year
A DEI strategy that lives in a slide deck doesn't change anything. One that shows up in who gets hired, who gets promoted, and who feels safe raising a concern actually does. We're hiring a Remote Diversity and Equity Manager to build the second kind — not the version that looks good in a report.

What This Role Owns

You'll set the DEI strategy for the organization and, more importantly, ensure it's actually implemented — not just approved in a leadership meeting and then forgotten. That means working across HR, department heads, and senior leadership to set goals people are actually held to, then tracking whether those goals get met. Naukri Mitra is helping fill this opening for a company that wants DEI work treated as a real function, not a symbolic one.

The Work, Day to Day

Some weeks lean into program building — designing training on unconscious bias or inclusive leadership, launching an employee resource group, reworking a hiring process that's quietly filtering out qualified candidates. Other weeks are about the numbers: pulling data on retention and promotion rates, spotting where the gaps actually are, and bringing recommendations to the executive team that are backed by evidence, not just good intentions. You'll also be a resource employees come to directly — someone they trust to hear their concerns and actually do something about them.

Core Responsibilities

  • Build and implement a DEI strategy tied to real business goals, not just values statements
  • Work with senior leadership to set measurable DEI targets and hold the organization accountable to them
  • Design training programs on topics like unconscious bias, cultural competency, and inclusive leadership
  • Lead recruiting and retention initiatives that create genuine equal opportunity across the workforce
  • Track DEI metrics and report progress to executives with clear, honest data
  • Support employee resource groups and facilitate open conversations on DEI topics
  • Build relationships with outside organizations to bring in fresh perspective and best practices
  • Review company policy for compliance with DEI-related laws and update it where it falls short

What You'll Need

Minimum education required: Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Sociology, or a related field. Minimum experience: 5 years in diversity, equity, and inclusion roles, with a real track record of initiatives you've actually led — not just supported. You'll need genuine depth in DEI principles and the legal landscape surrounding them, along with the project management chops to run several initiatives at once without letting any stall. Communication matters a lot here — you'll be talking to entry-level employees and executives in the same week, and both conversations need to land. Experience working remotely is a plus, since much of this role relies on trust and self-direction rather than in-person check-ins.

What Makes Someone Good at This

  • Genuinely comfortable navigating hard, sometimes uncomfortable conversations
  • Uses data to make the case for change, not just intuition
  • Collaborative by nature — this work fails if it's done in isolation
  • Adaptable when priorities shift, or a situation gets more complicated than expected

Compensation and Benefits

The annual salary for this role is $115,960. Beyond that:
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage
  • Fully remote with flexible working hours
  • Funded DEI training and certifications
  • Paid time off, including holidays, vacation, and sick leave
  • Employee wellness programs and resources

How This Role Fits Into the Bigger Picture

DEI work often gets treated as separate from "real" business strategy. Here, it isn't. You'll have direct access to leadership and real influence over policy — not a seat at the table that exists on paper but doesn't affect actual decisions. Representing the company at DEI conferences and building external partnerships are part of the job, too, which helps keep the strategy from getting stale or disconnected from what's happening elsewhere in the field.

Who Thrives Here

People who do well in this role care about the work beyond just being good at it professionally. They're resilient when pushback comes — and it will — and they know the difference between a quick symbolic win and the slower work of actually shifting how an organization operates.

How to Apply

Send your resume along with a short note on a DEI initiative you've led that you're genuinely proud of, including what changed as a result. We're an equal opportunity employer, and we mean it — applications are welcome from candidates of all backgrounds, identities, and experiences. Apply if you're ready to build DEI work that actually moves the needle.
