What you'd be doing

Updates go out through chat, email, or video, and they need to be clear enough that a dental team never has to guess where things stand.
- Review and confirm patient eligibility, plan coverage, and pre-authorizations
- Enter and update coverage data accurately in electronic dental records
- Send verification updates to dental teams and patients through digital channels
- Track down inconsistencies by coordinating directly with insurance carriers and office staff
- Keep every step of the process compliant with HIPAA
- Pull together daily reports and flag anything affecting claim approval rates
- Use detection tools to catch likely issues before they get submitted
What's required
Education.
High school diploma or equivalent, minimum.
Experience. At least
1 year in dental billing, insurance verification, or healthcare administration. Remote experience in a similar role helps, though it's not required.
Also needed:
- Real comfort working across cloud platforms and digital records, not just basic familiarity
- A working understanding of dental insurance codes, coverage types, and policy structure
- Hands-on experience with a practice management platform — Open Dental, Dentrix, or Eaglesoft
- Sharp attention to detail with patient records and claim data
- Communication that's clear enough to coordinate remotely without a lot of back-and-forth
