Payroll Specialist
Location: Remote Salary: $85,709 annually Job Overview: We seek a meticulous and detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to join our dynamic team. This remote position requires an individual who is well-versed in payroll processing, compliance, and employee benefits administration. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of payroll systems, tax regulations, and reporting requirements and will excel in managing payroll functions with accuracy and efficiency. Key Responsibilities:- Payroll Processing:
- Administer and process bi-weekly and monthly payrolls for a diverse workforce, ensuring accurate and timely payments.
- Validate and review timesheets, attendance records, and other payroll-related documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Handle adjustments for wage garnishments, bonuses, and commissions as required.
- Maintain and update employee payroll records, including changes in status, benefits, and compensation.
- Compliance and Reporting:
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations, including tax laws, wage and hour laws, and employee benefits regulations.
- Prepare and file payroll tax returns and reports, including W-2s, 1099s, and quarterly tax filings.
- Managed and reconciled payroll accounts and general ledger entries, ensuring accuracy in financial records.
- Assist in audits by providing necessary payroll documentation and reports.
- Employee Benefits Administration:
- Administer employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding benefits, deductions, and payroll issues.
- Ensure timely enrollment and changes in employee benefit programs and accurately process related deductions.
- System Management:
- Utilize payroll software and systems to process payroll and maintain accurate records.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to payroll systems and processes.
- Stay up-to-date with advancements in payroll technology and recommend improvements to streamline payroll processes.
- Communication and Support:
- Provide exceptional customer service to employees regarding payroll inquiries and issues.
- Collaborate with HR and finance teams to ensure alignment on payroll-related matters.
- Assist in the development and implementation of payroll policies and procedures.
- Documentation and Record Keeping:
- Maintain accurate and confidential payroll records and documentation by legal requirements.
- Prepare and distribute payroll reports to management as required.
- Education: A bachelorβs degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in payroll processing, with a thorough understanding of payroll regulations and compliance.
- Skills:
- Proficiency in payroll software and systems (e.g., ADP, Paychex, QuickBooks).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Practical communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with employees and management.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll tax laws and regulations.
- Certifications: CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) or similar certification is a plus.
