Online Fashion Sketch Artist

📍 Anywhere 🏷️ Work From Home 💰 $75,490 / year
A garment starts as a line on a page long before it ever touches fabric. Someone has to draw that line — has to translate a mood board, a fabric swatch, and a half-formed idea into something a patternmaker can actually build from. We're hiring an Online Fashion Sketch Artist to do exactly that, fully remote, at an annual salary of $75,490.

About the Studio

What started as a small concept design studio has grown into a digital fashion house working with emerging and established brands across more than 15 countries. The focus has stayed the same even as the team has grown: merge classic illustration technique with the speed and reach of digital tools, and use that combination to make fashion design more accessible to brands that don't have an in-house art department.

What You'll Be Sketching

Illustration sits at the center of this role — not as a support function, but as the first visual step in a garment's life. Your sketches are what a brand sees before anything gets cut or stitched, so the work carries weight from day one.
  • Create digital fashion sketches for women's, men's, and unisex collections, built from mood boards and design briefs
  • Translate trend and design themes into fresh, brand-aligned visuals rather than generic renderings
  • Produce layered, annotated sketches that patternmakers and production teams can work from directly
  • Pitch original sketch concepts for upcoming collections and seasonal drops

Working With the Wider Team

You won't be sketching in isolation. Expect regular back-and-forth with designers, stylists, and art directors as concepts get refined, plus feedback rounds where you'll revise illustrations quickly without losing the intent behind them. Design workshops and brainstorming sessions are part of the rhythm here, and your visual perspective is meant to shape those conversations, not just respond to them.

Staying Ahead of Trends

Fashion moves fast, and your sketches need to keep up. That means tracking seasonal colors, silhouettes, and materials, and staying current through virtual fashion events and industry webinars. It also means keeping your own work organized — a structured digital portfolio of completed and in-progress pieces, with files and revisions labeled clearly enough that anyone on the team can pick up where you left off.

What You'll Need

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience: At least 2 years of experience in fashion illustration, digital design, or a closely related creative field
  • Strong illustration skills with real attention to fabric flow, silhouette, and detail
  • Proficiency in digital sketching tools such as Adobe Illustrator, Procreate, CorelDRAW, or a tablet sketching interface
  • Comfort working across time zones with international, fully remote teams
  • Solid organizational habits — this role involves managing multiple projects and deadlines at once

Nice to Have

  • Formal training or certification in fashion illustration or digital design
  • A portfolio spanning multiple styles and techniques, not just one signature look
  • Experience working directly with production or patternmaking teams
  • Background presenting concepts to designers or art directors

Why Creatives Choose This Team

Illustrators here get real creative latitude — the brief sets direction, but how you interpret it is up to you. Many candidates find their way to this opportunity through Naukri Mitra, drawn by a role that treats illustration as a genuine craft rather than a quick production step. You'll work alongside people who take feedback seriously and give it just as seriously, which tends to make the revision process feel collaborative instead of corrective.

Compensation and Perks

  • Fully remote, with flexibility in both location and working hours
  • Annual learning stipend for courses, tools, or fashion masterclasses
  • Access to premium software and design platforms
  • Your work featured in lookbooks and portfolios seen across global markets
  • Consideration for virtual exhibits and brand showcases as opportunities come up

The Bigger Picture

Illustration still does something photography and 3D rendering can't quite replicate — it carries emotion and intention before a single sample is made. This role puts you at that early stage of a garment's story, working alongside designers, manufacturers, and stylists who rely on your sketches to communicate what a collection is trying to say before anyone sees the finished piece.
