Most ad copy gets scrolled past in under a second. The stuff that doesn't usually breaks a rule somewhere: a weird headline, an unexpected angle, a line that makes someone stop mid-scroll before they've even decided why they stopped. That's the skill we're hiring for, and it's harder to teach than most people expect going in.
We need an Online Ad Copy Specialist to write copy for digital campaigns across search, social, and display channels. Both full-time and part-time schedules are open, so this works whether you're looking for a primary role or something to run alongside other freelance or agency work. If you've got a portfolio of ads that actually converted, not just ones that looked nice in a deck, we want to see it.
This isn't a role for someone who wants to write one polished paragraph and move on. Ad copy lives and dies on iteration, and the people who thrive here treat a flopped headline as useful data rather than a personal failure, then move on to the next variation without dwelling on it.
What You'd Actually Be Doing
You'll write headlines, body copy, and calls to action for paid campaigns, then watch how they perform and rewrite the ones that flop. A lot of this job is iteration. The first version of an ad is rarely the winning version, and knowing which line to cut versus which one just needs a different hook takes real judgment, not a formula you can apply the same way every time.
You'll work closely with the broader marketing team on campaign strategy, so copy isn't written in a vacuum disconnected from what the ad is actually supposed to accomplish. Testing is part of the job too. Running A/B variations, reading the results honestly, and being willing to kill a line you personally loved because the data says it's not working.
What This Looks Like Week to Week
The mix shifts depending on how many campaigns are live at once, but expect most weeks to include:
- Write ad copy for search, social, and display campaigns
- Test multiple headline and copy variations to see what actually performs
- Analyze click-through and conversion data to guide revisions
- Collaborate with the marketing team on campaign direction and messaging
- Adapt tone and voice across different brands or products as needed
- Stay current on platform-specific ad formats and character limits
- Meet campaign deadlines without sacrificing quality under time pressure
What We're Looking For
A
Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, English, or a related field is required. You'll also need at least
2 years of experience writing ad copy or similar persuasive content, ideally with some exposure to performance data and testing. If your background is in journalism or creative writing rather than formal marketing, that's fine too, as long as you can show your writing actually moved a metric somewhere, even a small one.
The thing we screen hardest for isn't a clever turn of phrase. It's about whether someone can look at a line that isn't converting, diagnose why, then fix it, rather than just writing a fresh batch of options and hoping one sticks. That diagnostic instinct is rare, and it's usually obvious within the first round of a writing test.
- Bachelor's degree, minimum, in marketing, communications, or a related field
- 2+ years writing ad copy, marketing content, or similar persuasive writing
- Comfortable reading performance data and adjusting copy based on it
- Strong grasp of tone, voice, and audience across different platforms
- Able to write fast without letting quality slip under deadline pressure
- A portfolio of ad copy you can point to, ideally with results attached
Bonus Points For
None of these are required, but they'll make an application stand out.
- Experience running or interpreting A/B tests on ad copy
- Familiarity with major ad platforms like Google Ads or Meta Ads Manager
- Background in SEO copywriting or conversion rate optimization
- Experience writing for more than one brand voice at once
- A portfolio spanning multiple industries, not just one niche
Pay and Benefits
Full-time roles pay $60,000 a year, with part-time compensation adjusted based on hours worked. Along with salary:
- Fully remote work with flexible scheduling
- Health insurance for full-time staff
- Paid time off, including holidays
- An annual budget for courses, certifications, or industry conferences
- Performance bonus tied to campaign results, not just output volume
- A stipend toward home office equipment
The Team
You'd be working alongside strategists, designers, and other copywriters, all pulling toward the same campaign goals rather than working in separate silos. When an ad underperforms, the team digs into why together rather than quietly blaming the copy or the targeting without checking either first. Naukri Mitra tends to see a quick surge of interest in remote marketing roles like this one, so it's worth applying early if the fit feels right.
You'll have real ownership over your copy. Nobody's rewriting your lines just to put their own stamp on it, though feedback is direct and frequent, because bad copy costs the business money fast in a paid campaign where every impression has a price tag attached. New writers get paired with a senior copywriter for the first few weeks to get a feel for our voice guidelines and testing process before running solo on their own accounts.
We'd rather someone flag that a campaign isn't converting and ask for help fixing it than quietly watch the spend burn while hoping the next variation works better on its own. Being wrong about a headline isn't a big deal here. Not saying anything about it is.
How to Apply
Include your resume plus a few writing samples, or a link where we can see your work. If you can share results alongside the copy, even better; a headline that "sounds good" and one that actually moved click-through rate are very different things to us, and we'd rather see the second kind. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, and we follow up directly with strong candidates.
