Key Responsibilities That Shape Success

Evaluate Appraisal Reports

• Conduct in-depth reviews of residential appraisal reports to ensure consistency with federal regulations and company guidelines.
• Identify data discrepancies, unsupported adjustments, or valuation issues and request revisions when necessary.
• Verify property comparables and market trends to confirm appraisal credibility.

Ensure Compliance and Risk Mitigation

• Monitor appraisal quality and ensure adherence to USPAP, AIR, FHA, and other relevant compliance standards.
• Collaborate with underwriting teams to resolve discrepancies and clarify property valuation concerns.
• Maintain documentation of findings and communicate risk levels effectively to stakeholders.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Coordinate with appraisal management companies (AMCs), internal processors, and underwriters to expedite file completion.
• Provide expert input and resolution guidance for escalated or complex appraisal-related cases.
• Support internal training efforts by sharing appraisal quality insights and evolving industry trends.

Qualifications for Success

Required

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in mortgage appraisal review or a related real estate valuation role
• Strong knowledge of residential appraisal methodology and regulatory standards (USPAP, AIR, FHA, VA)
• Ability to analyze complex appraisal data and identify red flags with accuracy
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for delivering feedback to stakeholders
• Proven ability to work independently in a deadline-driven, remote environment

Preferred

• Bachelor's degree in Real Estate, Finance, or a related field
• Experience working with automated valuation models (AVMs) and proprietary risk tools
• Familiarity with both conventional and government loan appraisal guidelines
• Certification or licensure as a residential appraiser is a plus
