The Role
We need a Remote Lead Medical Transcriptionist to lead a small team of transcriptionists while still handling the more complex documents yourself. Workload, quality checks, training — all of it sits with you, plus you're the one clients call when something needs sorting out. Pay is
$55,121 a year, fully remote.
What You'll Be Doing
- Manage a team's schedule and workload so nothing sits in the queue too long
- Edit transcriptions for accuracy and formatting before they go out the door
- Call physicians directly when a dictation is unclear instead of guessing
- Take on the tougher stuff yourself — surgical notes, specialist reports, dense case histories
- Keep everything HIPAA-compliant, no exceptions
- Watch team accuracy and turnaround numbers, and step in when someone's slipping
- Field client concerns and actually fix what's causing them
What Gets You Hired
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 3-5 years transcribing medical records, with 1-2 of those years leading or supervising others
- Deep enough medical terminology knowledge to catch an error before it becomes a client's problem
- Working understanding of HIPAA and what confidentiality actually requires day to day
- Some real experience managing people — not just doing the work well yourself
Bonus Points
- CMT or RMT certification
- Specialty transcription background — cardiology, orthopedics, radiology
- Some exposure to medical coding and billing
- Comfortable with voice recognition tools, not just typing from scratch
