What You'll Do: Supporting Financial Confidence, One File at a Time
As a Junior Mortgage Underwriter, you’ll evaluate mortgage loan applications carefully, ensuring compliance with guidelines while considering the real-life stories behind the data. Key Responsibilities
- Carefully assess residential mortgage loan applications for completeness, consistency, and compliance with internal policies and investor guidelines.
- Collaborate with Loan Officers, Processors, and Senior Underwriters to address documentation issues and help move applications forward.
- Utilize underwriting tools and risk assessment platforms to analyze credit history, income, assets, and property appraisals.
- Assist in clearing conditions and preparing files for final underwriting review.
- Maintain accurate records and communicate decisions with empathy and professionalism.
- Stay current on lending regulations and underwriting standards through regular training and team meetings.

Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year of mortgage industry experience, preferably in processing or underwriting support
- Familiarity with residential mortgage loan documentation and lending guidelines
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to assess risk fairly and responsibly
- Clear, compassionate communication skills—written and verbal
- Comfortable working independently and meeting deadlines in a remote underwriting environment
- An eagerness to learn and the confidence to ask questions, learn new tools, and seek clarity when needed
Preferred, But Not Required
- Exposure to FHA, VA, or conventional loan underwriting
- Experience with remote collaboration tools
