What the Role Covers
You'd own quality assurance across healthcare services — building improvement initiatives, keeping the organization compliant with HIPAA, Medicare, and Medicaid standards, and leading a remote quality team through all of it. A lot of the work is analytical: reading performance data, spotting trends, and turning findings into recommendations senior leadership can actually act on.
Responsibilities
Quality Improvement
- Lead quality improvement initiatives that genuinely enhance patient care and service delivery.
- Build and enforce policies aligned with regulatory requirements.
- Review performance metrics and patient feedback to identify where changes are needed.
- Run audits and assessments that confirm compliance with healthcare regulations.
Data and Analysis
- Track and report on quality indicators like patient outcomes and service effectiveness.
- Maintain quality dashboards that flag concerns in near real time.
- Use statistical analysis to spot trends and recommend data-backed improvements.
Regulatory Compliance
- Keep every service aligned with federal, state, and local healthcare regulations.
- Prepare for inspections and audits from regulatory and accreditation bodies.
- Stay current on healthcare legislation and translate changes into internal policy updates.
Risk and Patient Safety
- Oversee risk management programs focused on reducing patient care risks.
- Run root cause analyses of incidents and build preventive measures based on what they reveal.
- Support emergency preparedness planning and confirm safety protocols are actually followed.
Leadership and Collaboration
- Lead a remote quality management team and keep the work genuinely collaborative.
- Mentor clinical and administrative staff on quality standards and best practices.
- Work across clinical, administrative, and external teams to maintain consistent quality everywhere.
Training and Reporting
- Build training programs covering quality improvement, risk management, and compliance.

What You'll Need
Education: Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Nursing, Public Health, or a related field (minimum requirement). A Master's degree is preferred.
Experience: At least 5 years in healthcare quality management, patient safety, or a closely related field.
You'll need real depth in healthcare regulations — HIPAA, Medicare, Medicaid, and Joint Commission standards — not just surface familiarity. Experience with quality improvement frameworks like Lean or Six Sigma matters here, along with solid analytical skills you can actually apply to performance data. Leadership experience is expected, ideally including time managing a remote team.
