A distributed workforce doesn't build itself into a culture — someone has to design it deliberately, then defend it when growth or a downturn puts pressure on it. That's the seat we're filling: a Remote Chief Human Resources Officer who can set HR strategy at the executive level and actually make it stick across a fully remote company.
The Role
You'll sit at the leadership table, shaping workforce strategy alongside the rest of the executive team rather than executing decisions made without HR input. That means owning talent acquisition, compensation structure, compliance, and culture — not as separate initiatives but as parts of a single coherent strategy tied to where the company is actually headed.
Naukri Mitra is helping fill this opening for an organization that treats HR leadership as core strategy, not a support function bolted onto the org chart.
What You'll Own
- Build and implement HR strategy aligned with the company's long-term business goals
- Lead workforce planning that keeps pace with an evolving labor market
- Partner with executive leadership on policies that support a diverse, inclusive workplace
- Shape a remote work culture where people actually feel engaged, not just connected online
- Modernize recruitment through better use of data and technology, not just faster hiring
- Build retention strategies tied to real career growth, not just perks
- Keep the company compliant with employment law while designing policy that doesn't feel bureaucratic
- Oversee compensation structures and incentive programs that stay competitive globally
- Bring in HR technology — including AI-driven tools for talent management and performance tracking — where it genuinely improves decision-making
What You'll Need
Minimum education required:
Master's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. Minimum experience:
10 years in HR leadership, with a track record of strategic HR work at scale.
You'll need real experience managing globally distributed teams — not just theoretical familiarity with remote work — along with solid grounding in labor law, employee relations, and compliance across different jurisdictions. Change management and organizational development experience matters here too, since this role often means leading HR through periods of real transformation, not just steady-state operations.
What Sets Strong Candidates Apart
- Leadership people actually want to follow, not just report to
- Comfort making decisions from data, not just instinct
- Communication clear enough to align executives and individual contributors on the same page
- A track record of solving HR problems creatively instead of defaulting to policy for policy's sake
Compensation and Benefits
The annual salary for this role is
$160,500. Beyond that:
- Fully remote — work from wherever you do your best thinking
- Leadership training and real opportunities for career advancement
- Flexible schedules built around actual well-being, not just stated policy
- Wellness programs, team retreats, and remote work stipends
How This Company Operates
This is a company built for remote work from the ground up, not one that adapted to it reluctantly. Ideas move quickly here, and HR is expected to keep pace — building policy and culture initiatives that match the speed of the business rather than trailing behind it. You'll have real influence over how the company grows, not just administrative oversight of how it's already running.
Who Does Well in This Role
The right person for this seat has already led HR through real complexity — scaling a team, navigating a transformation, building culture across time zones — and has the judgment to know when a policy needs to bend and when it needs to hold firm. Curiosity about where HR technology is headed helps, but it's judgment and people sense that actually make the difference.
