Every network gets probed eventually. The question is whether someone catches it before it becomes a real problem. We're hiring an
Online Network Security Analyst to do exactly that: watch the traffic, spot what's off, and shut down threats before they turn into incidents. This is a remote role, open to both part-time and full-time candidates.
What You'd Actually Be Doing
Day-to-day, you're monitoring network activity and flagging anything that looks like it shouldn't be there. Some days that's routine: checking logs, confirming alerts are false positives, running through a checklist. Other days you're deep in an actual incident, tracing how something got in and making sure it's fully contained before you move on. You'll also spend time on proactive work, such as vulnerability assessments and periodic security audits, so it's not purely reactive.
- Monitoring network traffic and security systems for unusual activity
- Digging into anything flagged as suspicious and working it through to resolution
- Running vulnerability assessments and recommending fixes
- Managing firewalls and intrusion detection systems
- Conducting periodic audits to check compliance with security policies
- Documenting incidents clearly enough that someone else could pick up where you left off
Background We're Looking For
This isn't an entry point into cybersecurity. You should already have hands-on experience with network security operations, not just classroom knowledge of the concepts. Firewall configuration and intrusion detection systems shouldn't be unfamiliar territory. You need a solid grasp of network protocols and how attackers exploit them, plus the analytical instincts to notice when something's slightly off, even before an alert fires.
People who do well in this role tend to be calm under pressure. Incidents don't wait for a convenient time, and how you handle the first twenty minutes of a real one usually matters more than anything you do afterward.
Nice Extras
A few things that'll strengthen your application without being strict requirements: prior work in a consulting capacity across different industries, experience with threat hunting rather than just incident response, or a track record advising clients on their overall security posture instead of just fixing individual problems. If you've handled network security engineering, meaning designing and building out defenses rather than only monitoring them, that's a plus too.
Schedule and Compensation
The role pays around
$51,000 a year. Part-time works well if you're managing other commitments and want flexible hours around a core set of responsibilities. Full-time comes with a steadier schedule and includes the fuller benefits package. Both options are remote, so wherever you're set up with a secure connection is fine.
What Makes This Different
Cybersecurity hiring can feel like a numbers game at many companies; resumes are scanned for keywords, and half the applicants never hear back. Naukri Mitra tries to run this differently, actually reading through what candidates have worked on rather than filtering purely by certifications. That means the process takes a little longer sometimes, but it also means you're less likely to end up in a role that doesn't fit your strengths. Analysts who stick around here usually end up specializing; some lean into threat hunting, others move toward the consulting side once they've built enough credibility with clients.
How the Team Works
You won't be sitting in status meetings all day. Most of the work is independent, checking systems, running assessments, writing up findings. When something needs a second set of eyes, usually during an active incident, the team pulls together fast and sorts it out. Outside of that, communication happens mostly through whatever ticketing or chat system is already in place- nothing heavy or bureaucratic.
Applying
If you've got real experience securing networks, not just studying them, this Online Network Security Analyst role is worth a look, whether you're after part-time flexibility or a full-time position. Send your application through, and if your background fits what's needed, expect to hear back within a reasonable window.
