Lead Virtual Accounting Clerk

📍 Anywhere 🏷️ Finance & Accounting 💰 $82,500 / year
A reconciliation gets called done, but something's off by a few dollars nobody can explain yet. Somebody has to be the one who doesn't just shrug and move on. That's this job. We're hiring a Lead Virtual Accounting Clerk to run day-to-day financial operations remotely — reconciliations, invoices, month-end close, the whole cycle.

The Basics

$82,500 a year. Part-time or full-time, whichever actually fits your schedule — both are genuinely on the table here.

What Fills the Week

  • Reconciling bank statements and chasing down discrepancies before they turn into bigger problems
  • Keeping invoices and payments moving so nothing backs up
  • Managing accounts payable and receivable
  • Helping close out the books each month and prepping financial statements
  • Building budgets and pitching in on broader financial reporting
  • Getting audit documentation together and keeping records lined up with accounting standards
  • Keeping financial records clean and actually organized, not just technically complete

What Gets You Considered

  • Education: Bachelor's degree required
  • Experience: 4 years minimum in accounting or bookkeeping
  • Solid grip on core accounting principles, not just software fluency
  • Comfortable in standard accounting software
  • Real attention to detail — the kind that catches a mismatch on the second pass, not the fifth
  • Organized enough to hit deadlines without a reminder every time
  • Fine working independently, without someone checking in daily
  • Communicates clearly with the rest of the finance team, not just with spreadsheets

Helps If You've Got It

  • Time already spent in a lead or senior clerk role
  • Some background in audit prep or compliance documentation
  • Comfortable reviewing or mentoring newer team members
  • Experience working both part-time and full-time accounting setups

Why This Matters More Than the Title Suggests

A missed reconciliation doesn't stay small. It turns into a confused vendor call weeks later, or a scramble right before an audit, or a financial statement that has to get quietly corrected after the fact. Naukri Mitra built this role specifically to catch that stuff early — the accuracy of the day-to-day bookkeeping is what the rest of the finance function actually rests on.

What You Get

  • Real choice between part-time and full-time, based on what works for you
  • Work from home, a co-working space, wherever the setup actually functions
  • Competitive pay with standard benefits
  • A path toward more senior accounting responsibility over time

Who Tends to Do Well

Not necessarily the fastest at data entry. More often it's whoever double-checks their own numbers out of habit, catches something off before anyone else notices, and doesn't need constant check-ins to stay on track. This role carries more weight than an entry-level clerk position, so taking initiative on a recurring process issue — instead of just flagging it and waiting — counts for a lot.

Either Schedule Works

Some people take this on full-time as their main accounting role. Others prefer it part-time, layered around other commitments. The schedule flexes. What doesn't flex is the expectation around accuracy and follow-through.
