Remote Knowledge Base Administrator

📍 Anywhere 🏷️ Knowledge Coordination 💰 $122,000 / year
Most knowledge bases start out useful and slowly turn into a graveyard — outdated articles, broken links, three versions of the same how-to guide. Somebody has to keep that from happening. That's what this role is for.

Overview

This is a fully remote position paying $122,000 a year. You'll own the day-to-day health of the organization's knowledge base: what's in it, how it's organized, whether people can actually find what they're looking for, and whether the content is still true by the time someone reads it.

A Day in This Role

Some of it is editorial, some of it is closer to information architecture, and a fair bit is just talking to people who use the knowledge base and figuring out what's frustrating them.
  • Keep existing content accurate and current, retiring anything that's gone stale
  • Build out tagging, categories, and folder structures so content is easy to browse and search
  • Work with subject matter experts to turn what they know into articles other people can actually use
  • Edit and proofread for clarity and consistency, following the organization's style guide
  • Keep an eye on SEO basics so content surfaces when people search for it internally or externally
  • Answer questions from knowledge base users directly and fix the underlying gap, not just the one ticket
  • Pull usage data — search success rates, engagement, drop-off points — and turn it into a report someone will read
  • Coordinate with IT on platform issues, integrations, and anything that needs a technical fix

What We're Looking For

  • Experience: at least 3 years in knowledge base management, content management, or something close to it
  • Education: Bachelor's degree required
  • Comfort working inside platforms like Confluence, Zendesk, or Freshdesk
  • A real understanding of how content management systems and basic SEO work together
  • Enough HTML/CSS familiarity to make small edits without pinging a developer for every fix
  • Comfortable pulling numbers from a tool like Google Analytics and knowing what to do with them
  • Strong writing and editing skills — this role lives or dies on clear language
  • The discipline to manage your own workload well in a remote setup

Even Better If You Have

  • Background in customer or technical support, where you've seen firsthand what confuses people
  • Familiarity with ITIL or a similar knowledge management framework
  • Experience working within agile processes and tools
  • A portfolio of content you've written or restructured that you're proud of

Compensation and Perks

  • Fully remote, with flexible hours around core meeting times
  • Health insurance and retirement plan contributions
  • Annual budget for courses, conferences, and other professional development
  • Paid time off, separate from company holidays
  • A remote work allowance to help cover home office costs

Working Rhythm

You'll need overlap with the team's core hours for meetings and reviews, but outside of that, how you structure your day is up to you. Occasional travel comes up for team gatherings or training, though it's the exception rather than the regular expectation. This kind of role gets posted often — you'll find similar ones scattered across Naukri Mitra — but the difference here is scope: you're not just maintaining pages, you're setting the strategy for how the whole knowledge base evolves.

Apply

Send your resume along with a couple of writing samples or knowledge base articles you've built or improved. If you have a before-and-after story — a knowledge base you helped turn around — that's exactly the kind of detail we want to hear about.
