Online Instructional Technologist (Remote)
Letâs Make Online Learning Actually Work
Ever sat through a clunky online course, clicking through slides that didnât teach you a thing? Yeah, us too. Thatâs exactly why this role exists.
Weâre on a mission to make digital learning clear, engaging, and truly helpful. As an
Online Instructional Technologist, youâll play a key part in shaping how learners connect with content that sticks. If you're someone who loves solving puzzles, simplifying the complex, and bringing a human touch to techâyouâre in the right place.
Oh, and yesâ
itâs 100% remote. Wherever you do your best thinking, that works for us.
What Youâll Actually Do
This isnât about just plugging content into templates. Here, youâll get to build learning experiences that help people
really learnânot just scroll and forget.
Youâll:
- Transform static lessons into dynamic experiences.
One of our team members, Ali, once took a boring compliance module and rebuilt it using scenario-based learning. The feedback? "Best training I've ever done."
- Support instructors, trainers, and course creators.
Youâll coach folks who may not be tech-savvy. Like helping Dave, a subject matter expert in biology, set up interactive lab simulations for his students.
- Use LMS tools (like Canvas or Moodle) with confidence.
Ever built a course from scratch? Great. If not, weâll show you how we do it, and youâll be up and running fast.
- Play tech translator.
When people get stuckâand they willâyouâll be there to fix the glitch or find a better tool.
- Stay one step ahead.
Whether it's a browser update breaking a feature or a new plugin making life easier, youâre always ready to adapt.
Tools Youâll Touch Often
We donât expect you to know
everything, but if youâve worked with some of these, you're off to a strong start:
- Learning Management Systems (LMS) like Canvas, Moodle, Blackboard
- Tools like Articulate Storyline, Rise, H5P, or Adobe Captivate
- Screen recording or video editing apps (Loom, Camtasia, etc.)
- Accessibility checkers
- Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Slack
If youâre missing a few?
Donât sweat it. Weâll train you on what matters.
Your Workday, Unplugged
Wondering how your day will look? Picture this:
- Morning: You hop on a Zoom call with an instructor whoâs redesigning their course. They're stuck on how to make a quiz more interactive. You brainstorm ideas together.
- Midday: Youâre testing a new tool that promises drag-and-drop video captions. Turns out, it works greatâso you share it with the team.
- Afternoon: A support ticket comes in. A course wonât load for some students. You dig into the backend, spot a broken link, fix it, and follow up.
- Evening: You log off on time. Because boundaries matter.
What Makes You a Good Fit
Weâre not into fancy degrees or cookie-cutter resumes. Hereâs what we
actually care about:
- You get how people learn onlineâand how they get stuck.
- Youâre curious, patient, and love breaking down tech for non-techy folks.
- Youâve built or supported online courses before.
- You write clearly and explain things well.
- Youâre organized. Like, color-coded-To-Do-list organized.
- You care about accessibility and inclusive learning.
If you've worked in higher ed, Kâ12, corporate L&D, or even as a freelancerâawesome. If you havenât but still know your stuff? Weâd still love to hear from you.
The Remote Life: What Itâs Really Like
Letâs be real. Remote work can feel disconnected. Thatâs why we keep the human side strong:
- Weekly team huddles where everyone gets to share wins and ask for help
- Virtual co-working sessions if you miss watercooler chats
- Slack channels for everything from tech tips to pet photos
And yes, we understand burnout is real. We encourage breaks, time off, and saying no when your plateâs full.
Growth? Itâs Built In
You wonât be stuck doing the same tasks for years. Around here, you get to:
- Learn new tech, constantly
- Attend paid training and conferences
- Shadow other team members to explore different areas
- Lead projects when youâre ready to step up
Some of our best folks started in totally different roles. One teammate, Jordan, came in doing tech support and now runs onboarding for all new instructors.
Salary & Perks
Annual salary: $77,500
We also offer:
- Flexible hours (as long as deadlines are met, your schedule is yours)

- Health, dental, and vision benefits
- Stipend for home office setup

Little Things That Matter
- We write stuff people can actually read. Youâll help us keep things clear and simple.
- Deadlines matter, but so does grace. Life happens.
- We listen. Really. Got an idea? Speak up.
Still Reading?
That probably means this sounds like a place where you could thrive. Weâre not perfect, but weâre trying hard to build something meaningful. A space where tech meets people, and learning actually helps.
So if youâre ready to help learners succeed, bring creativity to the table, and be part of a kind, smart, remote-first teamâ
letâs talk.
