Virtual Communications Specialist (Remote)
If you know how to make words work, keep people engaged, and make remote communication feelÂ
human, youâll probably love this role.
We're a fully remote team, spread across time zones, coffee preferences, and Spotify playlists. But here's the thingâcommunication is our glue. Thatâs where
you come in.
What Your Day Might Look Like
Ever juggled Slack threads, polished a client-facing email, and helped someone nail their virtual presentationâall before lunch? Thatâs the kind of energy we roll with here.
You wonât just be posting updates or writing generic newsletters. Youâll shape how our team communicates with each other, how we present ourselves online, and how our culture feels, even when we don't share the same zip code.
Think of yourself as the voice behind the scenesâwriting, editing, connecting dots, and keeping things straightforward, warm, and consistent.
The Heart of What You'll Do
Youâll keep remote communication alive and kicking. That means:
- Writing team-wide updates that sound like real humans wrote them
- Helping leaders craft better messages, whether it's a Slack post or an all-hands deck
- Editing, rewriting, and polishing internal docs so they're fun to read
- Supporting onboarding experiencesâyes, we want every new hire to feel instantly welcome
- Keeping our voice consistent across platforms and docs
And some days? Youâll jump into team calls to coach someone through a tricky message or help them prep for a big internal pitch. We like to say, "
no silos here" and mean it.
Letâs Talk Tools (But Just a Bit)
We use the usual suspects:
- Slack
- Zoom
- Notion
- Loom
- Google Workspace
If youâve used any of these, awesome. If not,
donât stress. Weâll show you the ropes.
What matters more is
how you use tools: to connect, to simplify, and to make people feel seen and heard. Not just to "communicate."
The Skills That Make This Role a Win
Weâre not about ticking boxes here, but if these sound like you, we should talk:
- Youâre a strong, natural writer who can shift tones without sounding like a robot
- You get peopleâempathy isnât a buzzword to you
- Youâve got experience working remotely and know how vital async communication is
- You can write fast and well (yes, both matter)
- You enjoy helping others sound betterâediting, coaching, even ghostwriting
And if youâve got a background in comms, internal messaging, writing, or storytelling? That helps. But more than anything, we care that you can jump in, listen deeply, and get your point across
without needing five paragraphs to say one thing.
A Few Wins From Our Team
Want to know what success here
really looks like? Here are a few real wins from the past few months:
- Tasha helped rewrite our onboarding emails to feel more personal. The feedback? "I felt like someone actually cared that I was joining."
- Daniel built a monthly "virtual coffee break" newsletter that people read (and reply to!)
- Jess coached a manager on giving better feedbackâtheir 1:1s are now smoother and more open.
These arenât giant projects. But they
matter.
Because here, minor improvements in how we talk lead to significant changes in how we work.
Remote Doesnât Mean Distant
Letâs be honest: remote work isnât all sunshine and yoga pants.
Sometimes Slack is overwhelming. Sometimes you wonder if anyone read your message. Sometimes you miss the hallway chats.
We hear you. Thatâs why we invest in making our virtual space feel like a
real one:
- Weekly team huddles (with cameras on, but zero pressure)
- "No meetings" blocks for deep work
- Encouragement to take real breaks, even if it's to stretch or pet your dog
We donât just work remotely. We work
intentionally.
Your Impact Here
What you do here wonât just sit in a doc or get lost in a folder.
- Your updates will keep teams aligned.
- Your coaching will help others communicate with more clarity.
- Your words will set the tone for how people experience our culture.
In short?
Youâll be the pulse behind how we stay connected.
Growth, Feedback, and Real Support
Letâs get realâyou want to grow, and we want to help.
Here, feedback isnât scary. Itâs how we learn. We check in often (not just once a year), and your voice matters as much as anyone elseâs. If somethingâs not working, we talk about it.
Weâre big believers in experimenting, reflecting, and trying again. Thatâs how weâve built a team thatâs thoughtful, funny, and always pushing for better.
What Success Looks Like After 3 Months
By your third month, youâll probably have:
- Built trust across a few different teams
- Led a few internal messaging projects on your own
- Given feedback on communication that helped someone improve
- Helped smooth out parts of onboarding or internal documentation
But more than that? Youâll have made your voice part of ours. And people will
feel the difference.
