Remote Renovation Designer â Shape Spaces from Anywhere
Ready to turn your eye for design into dream spaces without leaving your house? This role lets you do exactly that. As a
Remote Renovation Designer, youâll bring creative ideas to life, guide homeowners through significant changes, and help them fall in love with their space againâall from wherever you're most comfortable.
Weâre talking real projects, real people, and real impact. Every week, youâll transform everyday homes into something that feels brand new.
Letâs get into what your days might look like.
What Your Day Might Look Like
You log on with a coffee in hand. Maybe you're in your home office, your kitchen, or sitting outside. Wherever you are, youâre ready to dig into todayâs lineup of renovation projects.
Your first call? A couple looking to knock down a wall and open up their space. You guide them through the design plan, answer their "What if we..." questions, and sketch out a new layout that makes sense for how they actually live.
Next up, you're diving into a 3D model for a tiny guest bathroom that needs a complete overhaul. It's tight, but you're cleverâand you love a challenge.
You check in with the team on Slack. Someone just wrapped a project thatâs getting tons of love on Instagram. Feels good to be part of that win.
Before you log off, you hop on a quick huddle with another designer to bounce around ideas. Itâs casual, itâs collaborative, and it actually helps.
Thatâs your rhythm here: focused design time, real client impact, and a remote team thatâs always got your back.
What You'll Work On
This isnât cookie-cutter stuff. Your work actually shapes homes and how people feel in them. Hereâs what youâll get into:
- Creating innovative, functional, beautiful renovation designs for real clients
- Using design software (SketchUp, AutoCAD, Chief Architect, or whatever youâre comfortable with)
- Offering layout suggestions, space planning advice, and style tips
- Collaborating with remote teammatesâproject managers, other designers, and clients
- Turning tricky problems into clear, creative solutions
- Helping clients stay on track with timelines and budgets
And yes, youâll have time to breathe. We keep things realistic around here.
Who Youâll Work With
Weâre a remote-first team, which means youâre never stuck in one placeâbut youâre never alone, either. We chat daily, hop on quick video calls, and celebrate the small stuff.
You might trade ideas with Priya, whoâs known for her wild tile picks (that always work). Or brainstorm layout hacks with James, our go-to for tiny-space transformations. Everyone brings something different to the table.
We work hard, laugh often, and genuinely like helping people love their homes.
Who This Role is Perfect For
You donât need to be some design superstar or HGTV-famous. What matters is that youÂ
understand how homes work and actually listen to what people need.
Youâll probably love this job if:
- Youâve designed home spaces before (residential renovation is your comfort zone)
- Youâre great at explaining ideas in a simple, friendly way
- Youâre tech-savvy and comfortable with remote tools
- You have experience using design software (and can pick up new ones fast)
- You enjoy solving puzzlesâtight spaces, strict budgets, odd layouts
- You like variety and donât mind jumping between projects
Honestly? If youâve helped a friend redesign their kitchen
and explained the layout on a napkin, youâre probably our kind of person.
Tools We Use (and You Can, Too)
No, you donât have to use them all. But if you know a few, thatâs a great start.
- SketchUp
- AutoCAD
- Chief Architect
- Revit
- Canva (yep, sometimes a mood board says it all)
- Trello, Slack, Notion for team stuff
Weâll help you get set up with whatever tools you need to do your best work.
Challenges We Tackle Together
Letâs be real. Designing from a distance isnât always easy. Sometimes a client struggles to explain what they want. Sometimes you have to nudge someone out of analysis paralysis. And yes, occasionally remote work feels a little... quiet.
But here? We tackle that together.
We hold quick feedback calls. We drop quick voice notes to clarify design changes. We even have a virtual "show & tell" every Friday where someone shares a recent design win.
We donât just work remotely. We work connected.
What Success Looks Like
Letâs paint the picture. Youâre in the groove. Clients feel heard. Your ideas are fresh. Deadlines? Handled. Youâre balancing creativity with practicality, and it shows in every design you send out.
People start asking for
you by name.
They say things like:
- âYou totally understood what I meant when I said 'cozy but modern.'â
- âYou saved us from making a costly mistake.â
- âWe didnât think we could love this space again. But we do now.â
Thatâs the kind of feedback we hear around here. And it never gets old.
Schedule & Flexibility
This is a full-time remote role. But weâre flexible where it counts.
You can structure your workday around your energy levels, your timezone, or your family schedule. We care more about the work you do than when you do it.
We run on trust, not timesheets.
Pay & Perks
This role pays
$77,000 a year, and thatâs just the start. Youâll also get:
- Full remote setup support
- Time off when you need it (we actually mean that)
- Design resources and training
- Weekly team huddles + 1:1 check-ins
- A real path to grow your career here
We donât believe in burnout. We believe in doing great work and having a life outside it.
Final Thoughts
If youâve ever thought,
"I wish I could use my design skills without the commute, the showroom, or the long client lunches," this is that chance.
Here, your talent gets to shineâfrom wherever you feel most inspired.
Come help us shape better homes, one design at a time.
