Remote ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) Market Research Analyst

📍 Anywhere 🏷️ Research & Development 💰 $145,500 / year
Companies talk a big game on sustainability. Someone has to check if it's true. That's this job — digging through disclosures, regulations, and industry data to see what's actually happening, then handing that to the people making decisions.

What You'd Be Walking Into

This is a fully remote research role. You'll track ESG trends across industries, pull data from sustainability reports and regulatory filings, and turn it into something clients and investors can use. Some weeks are heavy on data collection. Others are mostly writing and presenting. Either way, you're working from the source material, not summarizing someone else's summary.

What the Work Looks Like Week to Week

  • Researching ESG trends, regulations, and industry practices from multiple sources
  • Pulling data from sustainability reports, regulatory filings, and industry databases
  • Analyzing corporate sustainability performance and flagging emerging ESG risks
  • Building reports, dashboards, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders
  • Tracking regulatory changes and briefing stakeholders on what's shifting
  • Running benchmarking studies comparing companies against industry ESG standards
  • Reviewing competitor ESG disclosures and strategies for comparative insight
  • Cross-checking data across sources to catch errors before they reach a report

What You Need Coming In

  • Education: Bachelor's degree required, in a field such as environmental studies, sustainability, business, economics, or finance; a Master's degree is a plus
  • Experience: 4 to 6 years in ESG analysis, market research, sustainability, or corporate governance
  • Solid grasp of ESG frameworks — GRI, SASB, CDP, TCFD
  • Strong research skills across both qualitative and quantitative data
  • Comfort with data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Excel
  • Clear written and verbal communication, since findings need to land with non-technical stakeholders
  • Ability to juggle several research projects at once without missing deadlines

Bonus Points For

  • Experience with dedicated ESG software or reporting platforms
  • Prior work directly advising corporate clients or investors on ESG strategy
  • A track record of tracking regulatory change across multiple jurisdictions
  • Strong proficiency across the Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint

How This Role Gets Support

You won't be piecing this together alone. Naukri Mitra places candidates with clients who treat ESG research as a real function, so you'll get access to the data sources and stakeholder relationships needed to actually do the job. Reports go straight to corporate clients, investors, and internal teams. Your work has a clear line to the decisions it feeds into.

Compensation and Benefits

This role pays $145,500 annually, along with:
  • Fully remote work with flexible scheduling
  • Ongoing learning and professional development support
  • Direct exposure to strategic ESG decision-making, not just data entry
  • A collaborative team structure where research findings actually get used

Who Tends to Do Well Here

You'll need patience for sitting with messy data until it actually says something, plus the confidence to present findings clearly even when they're incomplete. If you'd rather check a claim than repeat it, you'll fit fine here.
