We're hiring a Remote Environmental Impact Analyst to bring real rigor to how we assess the environmental footprint of our projects before decisions are locked in, rather than after.
The Basics
This is a full-time, fully remote position paying
$80,000 per year. You'll be the person who turns raw environmental data into assessments that leadership, regulators, and sometimes the public can actually use to make a call.
What the Role Covers
Working with the data itself
- Pull together environmental data from field reports, published research, and government sources — a lot of it won't arrive in a tidy format
- Run the statistical analysis and dig for the trend that isn't obvious on a first pass
- Document your methods well enough that someone else could pick up where you left off
Running the assessments
- Leading full environmental impact assessments for specific projects, programs, or proposed policies
- Weighing what a project gains against what it costs the surrounding ecosystem — air quality, water tables, habitat, land use, the whole picture
- Flagging where a project's environmental cost might outweigh its intended benefit, even when that's an uncomfortable conclusion
Writing it up so people can act on it
- Producing reports and presentations that lay out findings and recommendations clearly
- Translating technical findings into language that policymakers and community members without a science background can follow
- Maintaining a clean paper trail on methodology so assessments can be reviewed or challenged fairly
Keeping everything compliant and current
- Tracking environmental regulations at the local, national, and international level as they shift
- Making sure every assessment and recommendation is built on the current version of the rules, not last year's
- Working with internal teams and outside partners to fill in gaps in the data before conclusions get drawn
Pushing sustainability forward, not just measuring it
This part of the job goes beyond any single project. You'll help shape the sustainability strategy directly, spot improvements nobody's flagged yet, and keep sharpening your own methods as new tools and research emerge in the field.
What We're Looking For
- Education: Bachelor's degree (minimum requirement)
- Experience: At least 3 years working in environmental impact assessment, environmental data analysis, or a closely related field
- Solid command of environmental regulations, standards, and current best practices
- Proficiency with data analysis tools such as Excel, R, or Python, plus familiarity with environmental modeling software
- Strong analytical judgment — you should be comfortable making a recommendation from imperfect data, not waiting for perfect data that never arrives
- Clear written and verbal communication, including experience presenting findings to audiences without a technical background
- Enough discipline to manage your own deadlines and workload without a manager checking in constantly
Bonus Points For
- A master's degree or certification specifically in environmental impact assessment
- Experience working directly with regulators or in a policy-adjacent role
- Familiarity with climate risk modeling or biodiversity impact frameworks
- A portfolio of past assessments or case studies you can speak to directly
