Remote Drug Safety Surveillance Pharmacist

📍 Anywhere 🏷️ Healthcare & Wellness 💰 $135,701 / year
Every medication on the market keeps generating safety data long after it clears clinical trials — and someone has to keep watching that data closely. We're hiring a Remote Drug Safety Surveillance Pharmacist to take on that responsibility, reviewing adverse event reports, running benefit-risk assessments, and helping catch emerging safety signals before they become larger problems.

The Core of the Role

Your work centers on post-market drug safety. You'll monitor and evaluate adverse drug reaction reports using established signal detection tools, run real-time benefit-risk assessments on marketed products, and draft surveillance reports that hold up against regulatory scrutiny. None of this happens in isolation — you'll work closely with medical affairs, clinical operations, and regulatory teams whenever a safety signal needs a coordinated response.

Documentation and Regulatory Work

  • Review Periodic Safety Update Reports, Risk Management Plans, and Development Safety Update Reports
  • Provide scientifically grounded input during product label updates and pharmacovigilance inspections
  • Contribute to post-marketing studies and real-world evidence evaluation

Process Improvement

Part of the role also involves proposing improvements to signal management systems as surveillance practices evolve and using AI-assisted tools to streamline case processing without compromising accuracy.

Who We Need

A Doctoral degree (PharmD or equivalent) is required, along with active pharmacist licensure. On experience, we're looking for a minimum of 3 years in pharmacovigilance, drug safety, or clinical research — this isn't an entry-level position, and the responsibilities reflect that.

Skills We're Counting On

  • Solid grasp of global regulatory frameworks, including FDA, EMA, and ICH guidelines
  • Ability to interpret clinical data and understand pharmacological mechanisms accurately
  • Experience with safety reporting systems and post-market safety evaluation processes
  • Clear written and verbal communication suited to regulatory and cross-functional audiences
  • Sharp analytical thinking, particularly when it comes to spotting emerging safety signals early

Helpful, Though Not Mandatory

Prior exposure to AI-assisted signal detection tools, and comfort working across multiple pharmacovigilance databases simultaneously.

Systems You'll Work With

Day-to-day, you'll be inside pharmacovigilance databases like Argus Safety or ARISg, running signal detection through AI-powered software, and pulling literature through platforms such as Embase or PubMed. Dashboards in Tableau or Power BI help visualize trends, while Microsoft Teams and Slack handle team collaboration. Reporting ties into global regulatory databases including FAERS, EudraVigilance, and VigiBase.

How the Team Works Remotely

Collaboration runs through secure cloud systems, video calls, and shared dashboards rather than in-person meetings. You'll join remote advisory panels and cross-functional discussions regularly, while still managing a good portion of your work independently. This posting is listed through Naukri Mitra, and the team behind it operates with a clear expectation: independence doesn't mean disconnection. Questions about a signal or a regulatory nuance get real attention quickly, not delayed responses buried in a queue.

Compensation and Benefits

This position carries an annual salary of approximately $135,701. Alongside that:
  • Comprehensive healthcare coverage — medical, dental, and vision
  • A stipend to support your remote office setup
  • An annual allowance dedicated to professional development
  • Flexible PTO along with dedicated mental wellness days

Career Growth From Here

This role is structured to support advancement, not just steady output. Strong performers have the opportunity to lead global safety signal reviews, participate in cross-regulatory initiatives, and receive support for advanced pharmacovigilance certifications. Mentorship from experienced drug safety professionals is built into the culture, and there's room to contribute directly to the development and refinement of AI tools for signal detection.

Who Tends to Do Well Here

This role suits pharmacists who see pharmacovigilance as more than a compliance checkbox — the ones who genuinely want to understand why a signal is trending the way it is, not just log that it happened. If you'd rather investigate a pattern thoroughly than move past it quickly, the pace of this work will likely suit you well. Candidates from the USA, Canada, UK, European Union, Australia, India, and several other regions are encouraged to apply.

Applying

Submit a resume detailing your pharmacovigilance or clinical research background, along with the regulatory frameworks and safety databases you've worked with directly. Shortlisted candidates will proceed to an initial screening conversation, followed by a technical discussion focused on real safety-signal scenarios relevant to this role.
