Remote Compliance Specialist
Annual Salary: $72,853
Role Summary
We’re looking for a Remote Compliance Specialist who thrives in digital-first environments and knows how to balance rules with reason. This isn’t just about checking boxes—it’s about helping teams work with clarity, confidence, and integrity. You’ll dig into processes, review how things are done, and guide the organization through complex regulations, all while making sure policies actually work in real life, not just on paper.
You’ll be joining a team that values independence, accountability, and transparency. As compliance needs evolve in the age of remote work, your insights will help us stay one step ahead. From shaping how we train staff to identifying unseen risks, your work will help people across the company operate smarter and more ethically.
Key Responsibilities
Compliance Audits & Monitoring
- Run regular reviews to make sure we’re aligned with legal and internal standards.
- Track regulatory updates and help adjust internal policies accordingly.
- Spot compliance gaps and offer practical solutions.
- Share changes and developments in rules like data privacy or anti-fraud with teams.
Collaboration & Documentation
- Coordinate directly with department leads and cross-functional managers to address issues.
- Keep thorough records of updates, reports, trainings, and incident follow-ups.
- Draft handbooks, checklists, and clear how-to guides for employees.
- Ensure that documents remain consistent, readable, and valuable.
- Plan communications that explain our values and expectations without legal jargon.
Support & Training
- Be the go-to person for questions about policies or regulations.
- Deliver interactive training that’s tailored to remote employees.
- Document investigations clearly and professionally.
- Create summary reports for leadership with trends and recommendations.
- Design onboarding guides to help new hires understand our expectations from day one.
Preferred Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Legal Studies, Accounting, or a related area.
- At least three years of hands-on experience in compliance, audit, or policy development.
- Familiarity with both small-scale and company-wide compliance initiatives.
Skills That Matter
- Solid understanding of regulations tied to finance, data protection, or employee conduct.
- Experience with frameworks like SOX, GDPR, or HIPAA.
- Ability to simplify complex rules so that everyone can follow them.
- Prior success in remote work environments.
- Strong analytical thinking and a talent for spotting small but essential details.
- Confidence using digital tools for documentation and tracking.
- Clear communicator who can explain the “why” behind the rules.
Tools & Technologies
Compliance & Governance Software
- Platforms like LogicGate or Convercent are used for managing workflows.
- Risk systems such as Resolver or RiskWatch for oversight and reporting.
Digital Collaboration Tools
- Notion, DocuSign, or similar tools for process management.
- Dropbox, SharePoint, or other secure cloud platforms.
- Zoom, Slack, and Microsoft Teams for everyday team communication.
- ZenGRC, i-Sight, or similar tools for handling incident reports.
Remote Work Environment
We’ve built a remote culture that strikes a balance between structure and flexibility. You’ll have the space to focus and get things done, but also the support of a responsive, thoughtful team. We believe in clear expectations, transparent communication, and trust over micromanagement.
Most of your work will happen asynchronously, giving you the flexibility to plan your day. That said, we keep everyone aligned through regular check-ins, updates, and shared dashboards. You’ll find that your input really matters here, and your ability to keep us compliant keeps everything running smoothly.
We also believe compliance isn’t a one-person job. We encourage questions, curiosity, and shared ownership. If something feels off, we want to be aware of it. You’ll help foster that mindset company-wide.
Growth Opportunities & Impact
Your impact in this role goes beyond ticking boxes. You’ll be part of high-level conversations, helping shape the policies that affect how people work, how we handle sensitive data, and how we earn our clients’ trust.
You’ll help teams view compliance not as a burden, but as a means to build better habits, prevent issues before they escalate, and foster a healthier organization overall. Your advice won’t live in spreadsheets; it will guide real decisions.
What You Can Grow Into
- Compliance leadership or head of governance roles
- Specialization in global regulatory strategy
- Risk advisory focused on tech, finance, or data ethics
- Ownership of enterprise-wide policy platforms and tooling
- Mentoring roles for junior compliance staff or new departments
Why Join Us?
- Work from anywhere with flexible scheduling that respects your time.
- A team that listens, respects boundaries, and values clear communication.
- Ongoing opportunities to learn through courses, certifications, and workshops.
- Clear paths for growth based on your impact, not your time in the seat.
- Work that feels meaningful and has a measurable effect on how we operate.
- Welcoming culture rooted in honest conversations and real values.
We know great compliance work often happens behind the scenes—but we celebrate it anyway. You’ll be part of a group that recognizes integrity, ownership, and quiet wins just as much as public ones.
