Raw numbers don't mean much until someone makes sense of them. That's the job here — taking scattered, messy data and turning it into something leadership can actually act on. We're hiring a Remote Business Data Analyst, open to candidates working from anywhere, with the role originally based in New York.
This is a full-time position with an annual salary of $145,000. You'll work across marketing, sales, finance, and product teams, building the dashboards and analysis that inform real business decisions rather than sitting in a report nobody reads.
What This Role Involves
You'll spend your time moving between two modes: digging into datasets to find what's actually going on, and then explaining it clearly enough that someone without a technical background can act on it. Both halves matter equally here. A sharp analysis that nobody understands doesn't move a business forward, and neither does a polished presentation built on shaky numbers.
Core Responsibilities
- Collect, clean, and analyze business data pulled from multiple sources.
- Put together dashboards and reports that someone can glance at and immediately grasp what matters.
- Partner with marketing, sales, finance, and product teams to surface opportunities hidden in the data.
- Spot trends and patterns that translate into concrete, data-backed strategy recommendations.
- Present findings in a way that lands with people who don't work with data daily.
- Recommend new tools, methods, or KPIs when the current approach isn't cutting it.
- Develop predictive models and visualizations that support forward-looking decisions.
- Run root cause analysis when something in the numbers doesn't add up, and propose fixes.
- Keep tabs on the metrics that matter most, flagging shifts before they become surprises.
- Work directly with leadership to support decisions grounded in evidence rather than guesswork.
Background We're Looking For
- Minimum required education: Bachelor's degree.
- At least 2 years of experience in data analysis, business intelligence, or a closely related field.
- Proficiency with SQL, Excel, and at least one BI platform such as Tableau, Power BI, or Looker.
- A knack for boiling a messy finding down to the one sentence that actually changes someone's decision.
- Comfort managing your own workload and priorities in a remote setting.
- Genuine curiosity — the instinct to keep asking why a number looks the way it does.
Nice to Have
- Working knowledge of Python, R, or another statistical programming language.
- Experience with machine learning tools or predictive modeling.
- Familiarity with digital analytics platforms such as Google Analytics.
- Comfort using project management tools like Trello, Asana, or Jira to stay organized across projects.
What Matters to This Team
Curiosity is a genuine requirement here, not a nice-to-have on paper — people who thrive in this role tend to ask a second and third "why" instead of stopping at the first answer. Collaboration matters just as much: your work only creates value once it reaches the teams who can act on it. And when a dataset turns out messier than expected, the team values people who stay steady and keep working the problem rather than getting frustrated by it.
Where This Role Fits
Roles like this are often listed through
Naukri Mitra, which connects data professionals with remote-first teams looking for someone who can turn raw numbers into decisions the whole business can act on. The team here has been building out flexible, data-driven roles for a while now, and the analysis produced in this seat regularly shapes real strategic calls — not just background reporting.
Compensation and Perks
- Annual salary of $145,000.
- Fully remote work, with flexibility to structure your day around when you do your best analytical thinking.
- Access to learning and development programs to keep your technical skills current.
- Health, dental, and vision coverage.
- Paid time off and standard holidays.
- A defined path for growth within business intelligence and analytics.
Who Fits Well Here
This role suits someone who genuinely wants to know the "why" behind a trend, not just the "what." You should be comfortable presenting findings to people who'll push back with questions, and able to keep several projects moving without losing track of any of them. If remote, fast-moving environments energize you rather than drain you, this is likely a good fit.
How to Apply
Applications are open to candidates across the United States, Canada, the UK, the European Union, Australia, India, and other regions. Send your resume along with an example of an analysis you're proud of — what question it answered and what decision it influenced. We're interested in how you think through a problem as much as the tools you used to solve it.
