What You’ll Do as a Phlebotomist
- Draw blood using venipuncture and capillary techniques, always prioritizing patient safety and accuracy
- Confirm patient identities and label specimens correctly every time
- Clearly explain blood draw procedures to patients and help them feel comfortable
- Get specimens ready and organized for lab testing
- Keep thorough and accurate records for every patient and specimen
- Stick to all safety and privacy standards, including HIPAA, OSHA, and infection control protocols
- Make sure work areas and equipment are always clean and sanitized
- Pitch in with lab staff to process specimens when needed
- Keep an eye on inventory for medical and collection supplies
- Deliver friendly, professional care to every patient, every time
- Treat all patient information with absolute confidentiality
- Collaborate closely with nurses, physicians, and the lab team to keep everything running smoothly
What We’re Looking For
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Phlebotomy training program completed (preferred)
- Previous experience in phlebotomy or laboratory work (preferred)
- Solid understanding of venipuncture and how to handle specimens properly
- Great communication and people skills
- Comfortable working in a busy medical environment
- Familiarity with computers and electronic medical record systems
