Remote Instructional Technologist

Position Title: Instructional Technologist Location: Remote Reports To: Director of Educational Technology Employment Type: Full-Time, Remote Salary Range: Competitive, based on experience Annual Salary: $52,000 Benefits: Health, Dental, Vision, 401(k) matching, Professional Development Opportunities Position Overview: We seek a dynamic and experienced Instructional Technologist to join our innovative team remotely. The Instructional Technologist will play a pivotal role in enhancing the learning experience through the integration of technology into instructional design. This position will work closely with faculty, instructional designers, and other educational technology staff to develop and implement cutting-edge digital learning tools and resources that support our institution’s educational mission. As an Instructional Technologist, you will provide expert advice, training, and support on the effective use of educational technology tools to enhance teaching and learning. You will be responsible for managing and supporting online learning platforms, developing training materials, and collaborating on the design of digital learning content. The ideal candidate is a tech-savvy professional with a passion for education and a strong background in instructional technology. Key Responsibilities:
  1. Technology Integration:
    • Collaborate with faculty and instructional designers to integrate technology into course design, ensuring that it aligns with pedagogical goals and enhances student engagement.
    • Research, evaluate, and recommend new educational technologies and tools that support innovative teaching practices.
    • Support the adoption and implementation of learning management systems (LMS), multimedia tools, and other digital resources across various instructional settings.
  2. Technical Support and Training:
    • Provide technical support to faculty, staff, and students in the use of educational technology tools, including troubleshooting issues and offering solutions.
    • Develop and deliver training workshops, webinars, and one-on-one sessions to equip faculty and staff with the skills needed to effectively use technology in their teaching.
    • Create and maintain user guides, tutorials, and other instructional materials to support the use of digital learning tools.
  3. Content Development:
    • Assist in the design and development of online and hybrid courses, including the creation of interactive multimedia content, assessments, and other digital learning materials.
    • Collaborate with subject matter experts to design and produce high-quality instructional content that meets the needs of diverse learners.
    • Ensure that all digital content complies with accessibility standards and best practices for online learning.
  4. Project Management:
    • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, from initial concept to final implementation, ensuring that deadlines are met and deliverables are of high quality.
    • Work closely with cross-functional teams to coordinate the development and deployment of educational technology initiatives.
    • Track project progress, report on outcomes, and make recommendations for continuous improvement.
  5. Innovation and Research:
    • Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and developments in instructional technology, online learning, and digital pedagogy.
    • Experiment with new tools and methodologies to enhance the learning experience, sharing findings and best practices with the broader educational community.
    • Participate in professional development opportunities and contribute to the institution's knowledge base on educational technology.
  6. Collaboration and Communication:
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with faculty, staff, and external partners to foster a culture of collaboration and innovation in the use of technology in education.
    • Communicate effectively with all stakeholders, providing regular updates on technology initiatives and soliciting feedback to inform future projects.
    • Serve as a liaison between the educational technology department and other departments, ensuring alignment with institutional goals and priorities.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Technology, Educational Technology, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in an instructional technology role, preferably in a higher education setting.
  • Proficiency in learning management systems (e.g., Blackboard, Canvas, Moodle) and other educational technology tools.
  • Strong understanding of instructional design principles and best practices in online learning.
  • Excellent technical skills, including experience with multimedia production, web development, and graphic design.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and work effectively in a remote team environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to train and support users with varying levels of technical expertise.
  • Commitment to staying current with emerging technologies and trends in educational technology.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with accessibility standards and universal learning design (UDL).
  • Familiarity with data analytics and its application to learning outcomes.
  • Certification in instructional technology or a related field.
