Remote Test Prep Instructor (Math)

Description

Remote Test Prep Instructor (Math)

Introduction: Make Math Click—From Anywhere

Is your mind wired for patterns, logic, and explaining complex concepts with simple, confident clarity? Our learners are counting on someone like you. As a Remote Test Prep Instructor (Math), you'll empower students preparing for standardized exams by crafting engaging lessons that turn formulas into intuition. Whether it's the SAT, ACT, GRE, or GMAT, you won't just help students memorize—you'll help them think critically and approach problems with confidence. And you’ll do it all from wherever you focus best.

You’ll be the person who helps students overcome their fear of math and start enjoying it. Whether they’re tackling quantitative reasoning for graduate school admissions or brushing up on algebraic expressions for the SAT, your guidance turns test prep from a chore into a journey. This position isn’t just about teaching—it’s about changing lives through confidence-building, deep learning, and long-term academic empowerment.

What You’ll Help Us Achieve

You’ll be the reason students meet their academic goals—and go beyond them. Your math instruction will reduce anxiety, sharpen problem-solving skills, and elevate test performance. You’ll transform abstract equations into “aha” moments that change lives, one prep session at a time.

Key Responsibilities That Drive Impact

Design Meaningful Math Lessons

  • Create test-aligned content that makes concepts like probability, algebra, and geometry stick.
  • Integrate real-world examples to make abstract math relatable and memorable.
  • Build intuitive progressions of material that allow for scaffolding of student understanding.
  • Design visual aids, digital handouts, and assessments that reinforce key concepts.

Deliver Dynamic Online Instruction

  • Host live virtual sessions that keep students engaged, energized, and improving.
  • Lead group instruction, breakout discussions, and one-on-one tutoring, adjusting pace and focus based on learner needs.
  • Personalize instruction using learner data, ongoing feedback, and formative assessments.
  • Promote inquisitive thinking by posing thoughtful prompts and inspiring student-led thinking.

Analyze and Adapt

  • Identify trends in student data to inform your teaching methods and content delivery.
  • Adapt quickly to the diverse learning styles and preferences of learners.
  • Contribute to curriculum updates to stay aligned with evolving test formats and expectations.
  • Offer actionable input to the curriculum and product development teams.

Work Environment & Tools

This role is entirely remote. You’ll teach and prepare lessons from wherever you feel most productive—your quiet home office, a co-working space, or even while traveling. All you need is reliable Wi-Fi, a webcam, and your teaching toolkit.

Tools We Rely On

  • Zoom: For live instruction, screen sharing, and virtual engagement.
  • Google Suite: For collaborative prep, planning, and real-time document sharing.
  • Slack: To stay connected with the teaching community and support staff.
  • LMS Platforms: For managing student progress, attendance, and performance tracking.
  • Interactive Whiteboards: For visual math breakdowns during live sessions.

What Sets You Apart

You Know Math Inside and Out

  • You’re fluent in core high school and college-level math: algebra, geometry, statistics, trigonometry, and calculus.
  • You understand the mechanics and structure of standardized test questions and how to reverse-engineer them with students.
  • You know how to teach not just what the answer is—but why it works.

You Make Complexity Feel Clear

  • You simplify complex ideas—whether it’s over Zoom or Slack.
  • You find multiple ways to explain one concept because you know every student learns differently.
  • You naturally adapt your style, language, and pacing to fit the needs of each learner.
  • You use metaphors, logic frameworks, and relatable examples to make your lessons stick.

You Care Deeply About Learning

  • You believe students succeed not just by grinding practice problems but by learning how to think.
  • You create a space where questions are encouraged, mistakes are welcome, and confidence grows.
  • You invest in helping students develop self-efficacy that extends beyond any single exam.

Qualifications You’ll Bring

  • An undergraduate qualification in math, education, or an equivalent discipline.
  • Minimum of 2 years teaching or tutoring math for standardized exams (SAT, ACT, GRE, GMAT).
  • Experience teaching virtually, with a command of digital platforms and student engagement tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to differentiate instruction and personalize learning.
  • Excellent communication skills—you express ideas clearly in writing and in live settings.
  • A growth mindset: You reflect on your practice, seek feedback, and keep learning.

Preferred (But Not Required)

  • Master’s degree in Mathematics, Education, or similar.
  • Certification or training in pedagogy, test prep, or instructional design.
  • Experience working with underserved or first-generation college-bound students.
  • Familiarity with EdTech tools and gamified learning strategies.

Why This Role Matters

Standardized assessments still influence academic opportunities. Yet many students lack access to excellent instruction or the confidence that they’re capable of doing well. This role bridges that gap. You’ll be their coach, cheerleader, and subject-matter expert. You’ll teach them how to break down complex math problems and how to believe in their ability to solve them. When they walk into that exam room, they won’t just be prepared—they’ll be ready.

More than a job, this is a mission: empowering students to showcase their capabilities and opening doors to college and beyond. And you’ll get to do that from the comfort of your home, on a schedule that works for you.

Compensation

This fully remote opportunity offers an annual salary of $52,129, along with flexible scheduling options, regular professional development opportunities, and room for career advancement.
