Description
Remote Oracle Database Administrator (DBA)
Can your database strategies turn complex data into crystal-clear insights? We're looking for an Oracle DBA who thrives on creating stability out of complexity—and we're excited to build the future with you.
Role Overview
You’ll architect, support, and evolve mission-critical Oracle database systems that sit at the core of our business operations. This isn’t a passive support role—this is your opportunity to shape systems that empower engineering, analytics, and customer-facing tools across a fast-moving, digital-first enterprise. We’ll trust you to evaluate, enhance, and protect our infrastructure so teams can move faster, deploy confidently, and scale without fear.
Key Responsibilities
Database Management
- Lead the creation, maintenance, and optimization of highly available Oracle databases.
- Architect robust data storage models that balance flexibility, performance, and scalability.
- Continuously assess database performance and resolve emerging concerns before they impact operations.
Backup & Recovery
- Implement and continuously improve backup and recovery strategies using RMAN and Data Guard.
- Establish DR protocols that minimize RTO and RPO while securing critical company data.
- Conduct frequent scenario-based recovery tests to ensure resilience.
Performance Optimization
- Tune SQL queries and analyze system bottlenecks using AWR, ADDM, and OEM dashboards.
- Implement indexing, partitioning, and in-memory optimizations that cut processing time and streamline workloads.
- Reduce data latency across business functions through smarter caching and concurrency strategies.
Security & Compliance
- Enforce access control, encryption, and auditing standards to maintain compliance with data privacy regulations.
- Collaborate with InfoSec teams on proactive threat modeling and response planning.
- Monitor suspicious activity and regularly review security policies.
Strategic Planning
- Build and present data platform roadmaps that outline upgrades, migrations, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Forecast capacity needs and align procurement with technical and financial leadership.
- Collaborate on long-term storage and performance improvements in line with growth targets.
Capacity Planning & Maintenance
- Scale infrastructure to support evolving data needs and user growth.
- Automate database health checks, alerting systems, and housekeeping routines.
- Lead version upgrades and patch rollouts with zero downtime execution strategies.
Remote Work Environment
We believe that your best work happens when you’re supported, not micromanaged. As part of a remote-first team, you’ll have the freedom to build deep focus blocks, recharge between projects, and work from anywhere while staying connected through meaningful collaboration.
Collaboration Tools
Our remote tech stack supports async and live communication, including:
- Slack for daily team touchpoints
- Zoom for technical deep dives and cross-team syncs
- Jira for sprint planning and project visibility
Technical Stack & Tools
You’ll use a variety of Oracle and adjacent technologies, including:
- Oracle Database 19c/21c
- Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC)
- Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM)
- Data Guard for replication and disaster recovery
- RMAN for backup and restore
- AWR/ADDM for performance insights
- Bash/Perl/Python for automation
- Linux/Unix administration tools
Candidate Profile
Communication & Collaboration
You translate complex data challenges into actionable solutions—whether you’re working across time zones or breaking down migration plans for non-technical stakeholders. You’re approachable, concise, and unafraid to ask the hard questions when data is on the line.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of Oracle database administration experience in large-scale, distributed systems.
- Expert-level skills in Data Guard, RAC, and performance tuning.
- Hands-on knowledge of Oracle backup/recovery, partitioning, and high availability design.
- Comfort with scripting languages such as Bash, Python, or Perl for automation purposes.
- Experience supporting Oracle workloads on AWS, Azure, or Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks, troubleshoot under pressure, and lead change.
Preferred Qualifications
- Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) certification.
- Familiarity with PostgreSQL, MySQL, or NoSQL systems is a plus.
- Experience with DevOps principles and Infrastructure-as-Code tools like Terraform.
Work Culture & Benefits
We’re a people-first company, and that starts with trust. Here, you're not just a ticket-closer—you’re a key stakeholder in every system you touch. You’ll join a culture that values asynchronous productivity, radical candor, and shared ownership.
What You’ll Get
- Annual compensation of $118,548
- Flexible PTO and remote-first work culture
- Professional development stipend and certification support
- Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision benefits
- Paid parental leave and mental health support programs
