Remote Mathematical Modeler

Description

Remote Mathematical Modeler

Introduction: Shape the Future with Models That Matter

Can your models predict complex outcomes and unlock smarter decisions? Ours do—and we’re scaling fast. As a Remote Mathematical Modeler, you’ll design and refine advanced models that empower real-world innovation across industries like healthcare, logistics, climate science, and finance. This isn’t just about numbers; it’s about transforming ambiguity into clarity. If you thrive on transforming intricate patterns into elegant solutions and want to leave a lasting impact, we would like to work with you.

Key Responsibilities: Drive Insightful, Action-Oriented Modeling

Model Development

  • Build predictive, descriptive, and prescriptive mathematical models that inform critical business strategies and system designs.
  • Use statistical inference, optimization, machine learning, and simulation techniques to solve high-impact problems.

Collaboration and Integration

  • Translate abstract requirements into actionable model architectures, focusing on results that drive significant, long-term outcomes.
  • Partner with software engineers to develop production models that handle real-time data and support millions of user actions.
  • Collaborate with subject-matter experts to contextualize models and align mathematical decisions with organizational goals.

Communication and Documentation

  • Document and communicate model structure, logic, and results clearly—not only internally but also to external stakeholders when necessary.
  • Continuously iterate based on feedback, changing inputs, or emerging needs in a fast-evolving remote-first environment.

Your Impact: From Concept to Scalable Reality

Every model you design will guide meaningful decisions—from optimizing hospital staffing to predicting supply chain disruptions. You’ll move beyond academic theory, developing practical tools that shape day-to-day outcomes for thousands, sometimes millions. Your contributions won’t be siloed. You’ll integrate closely with engineering, data science, operations, and leadership teams to ensure what you build gets used, improved, and celebrated.

Tools & Technologies

You’ll work in a well-supported remote stack that includes:

  • Python with SciPy, NumPy, and Pyomo
  • R and its modeling libraries
  • JupyterLab and VS Code for workflow
  • GitHub, Jira, and Confluence for project tracking and documentation
  • AWS Lambda and containerized services for scalable deployment
  • Remote collaboration tools like Slack, Zoom, and Notion

What Success Looks Like

  • You design models that cut down decision time by 40% in complex systems.
  • Your simulations reduce forecasting errors and help prevent downstream operational delays.
  • The models you co-create become integrated tools across departments, driving strategic metrics.
  • You mentor peers by demystifying model logic and helping others use, improve, and expand on your work.

Work Culture & Environment

We move quickly, but you’ll always have space to focus intensely. Remote doesn’t mean disconnected here—you’ll join weekly standups, cross-functional reviews, and collaborative brainstorms designed to keep inspiration and clarity alive. Everyone contributes, and every voice counts.

We reward initiative and curiosity. Do you want to explore a new algorithm or propose a modeling framework? Let’s test it. Our culture values both rigorous thinking and practical experimentation.

What You Bring to the Team

Core Qualifications

  • Deep expertise in applied mathematics, operations research, or a closely aligned discipline.
  • Proficiency in linear and nonlinear programming, stochastic processes, and probabilistic reasoning.
  • Fluency in Python or R for modeling, with an eagerness to explore emerging methods.
  • A knack for translating complex technical frameworks into digestible narratives.

Preferred Experience

  • Past experience modeling at scale, whether it’s routing fleets, predicting market trends, or modeling epidemiological dynamics.
  • An iterative mindset: you believe in shipping version 1 and improving fast.
  • Comfort working autonomously in a distributed team across time zones.

Bonus if You Have

  • Familiarity with Monte Carlo simulations, constraint programming, or real-time optimization.
  • Published work (academic or industrial) that demonstrates modeling impact.
  • Exposure to modeling ethical considerations, bias mitigation, or uncertainty quantification in high-stakes applications.

Compensation

You'll earn an annual salary of $97,166, alongside a competitive benefits package and performance-based bonuses. We know the value your thinking brings, and we back that belief with meaningful compensation.

Why This Role? Why Now?

Data is abundant, but transformation comes from interpretation. Your models will be at the heart of smarter decisions, smoother operations, and scalable innovation. From pandemic preparedness to climate resilience, you won’t just be running regressions—you’ll be helping solve humanity’s most challenging questions.

Let’s Build Something Purposeful Together

If you're energized by turning real-world problems into mathematical clarity—and you want to do it remotely alongside a team that respects your craft and trusts your instincts—then let’s talk.

We’re not looking for perfection. We’re excited to meet thinkers, doers, and modelers who see possibility in every variable.
