Remote Math Assessment Designer

Description

Remote Math Assessment Designer

Make Math Meaningful From Anywhere

Can you turn abstract equations into engaging experiences? We're crafting a digital learning environment where assessments don’t just test knowledge—they spark understanding. As a Remote Math Assessment Designer, you won't just build questions; you'll design moments of clarity for students across the globe. With autonomy and creativity at its core, this role offers an opportunity to transform the way learners interact with mathematics.

What You'll Contribute

Design With Purpose

Every item you create will serve a greater mission: to improve math comprehension for diverse learners. You'll design problem sets, performance tasks, and adaptive quizzes that resonate with students' realities. Your work will help teachers personalize instruction and help students recognize their own potential.

  • Develop rigorous yet accessible math assessments aligned with learning goals from grade 6 through college-level math.
  • Design item banks that emphasize reasoning over rote.
  • Incorporate visual models, real-world data, and context-based scenarios that reflect everyday applications of mathematics.
  • Create tiered difficulty levels to support differentiated learning.

Drive Innovation Through Data

Your assessments won’t live in a vacuum. They’ll generate insights, uncover learning gaps, and empower educators with actionable data.

  • Collaborate with curriculum leads to evaluate trends in student responses.
  • Integrate psychometric insights to improve item quality and learning impact.
  • Continuously iterate based on real-time performance metrics.

Your Day-to-Day Tools

You'll work in a fully remote, asynchronous environment supported by cutting-edge digital platforms. Expect your digital toolbox to include:

  • Notion for project tracking and content mapping.
  • Google Workspace for collaborative reviews and feedback loops.
  • Desmos and GeoGebra for creating interactive graph-based items.
  • LaTeX or equation editors for formatting advanced math content.

We trust you to manage your workflow—but you're never alone. You’ll meet regularly via Zoom with our academic teams to brainstorm new ideas, challenge assumptions, and celebrate wins.

Who Thrives in This Role

You Build With Empathy

Maybe you’ve taught math. Perhaps you’ve tutored students who saw algebra as a foreign language. Either way, you know how it feels to turn confusion into clarity—and you design with that memory in mind. You're not just building assessments; you're building bridges.

  • You simplify complex ideas—whether it's over Zoom or Slack.
  • You treat feedback as fuel and iteration as instinct.
  • You care as much about the learner's experience as you do about mathematical precision.

You Mix Precision With Creativity

You're fluent in functions, statistics, and geometric reasoning. But you also ask questions like: "How does this problem make students feel?" and "Could we make this more intuitive with a diagram or real-life context?"

  • You’ve designed assessments, content, or curricula in math education.
  • You’re comfortable balancing standards alignment with student engagement.
  • You think rigor and joy aren’t opposites—they're partners.

Experience That Sets You Up for Success

You don’t need to have a traditional path—what matters most is your ability to create meaning through math.

  • A background in math education, instructional design, or learning sciences.
  • Experience developing assessments aligned with Common Core, NGSS, or international math frameworks.
  • Familiarity with universal design principles and accessibility best practices.
  • Comfort working remotely across time zones and communicating asynchronously.

Growth, Flexibility, and Support

This is more than a role—it’s a partnership in shaping the future of math learning. You’ll have:

  • Flexible hours that allow for deep focus and creative flow.
  • Opportunities to shape assessment strategy and vision.
  • A supportive team that celebrates your wins and has your back during setbacks.

And yes—you’ll be compensated fairly for your expertise and dedication. Annual salary: $57,182.
