Remote Front-End Performance Optimization Engineer

Introduction to the Role

If you're someone who notices when a site lags, when transitions stutter, or when a page doesn’t feel quite right, this role is for you. We're hiring a Remote Front-End Performance Optimization Engineer to focus on the speed, efficiency, and responsiveness of our digital experiences. In this position, you'll lead key initiatives to boost responsiveness, accelerate loading performance, and elevate smoothness across user interfaces used by millions. You’ll work in a supportive team that values precision, autonomy, and clean code.

Key Responsibilities

Optimize for Speed

  • Identify and eliminate bottlenecks by running in-depth audits with Lighthouse, Chrome DevTools, and other profiling tools.
  • Improve asset delivery by streamlining JavaScript, deferring non-critical resources, and compressing images effectively.
  • Apply advanced techniques, such as HTTP/3 adoption, lazy loading, and content preloading, to reduce rendering time.

Collaborate on Strategy

  • Team up with UX designers, developers, and product managers to embed performance considerations early in the development cycle
  • Set measurable targets for web vitals and implement them as shared team goals.
  • Guide architectural decisions that influence the long-term maintainability and speed of our frontend ecosystem.

Monitor and Respond

  • Analyze performance data from real users and synthetic testing tools to catch slowdowns before users do
  • Work across browsers and device types to ensure consistent, high-speed experiences.
  • Continuously iterate on improvements based on metrics like Time to Interactive (TTI) and Cumulative Layout Shift (CLS)
