What You'll Do

As a Front End Accessibility Engineer, your work will directly influence how users perceive and interact with our products. You'll ensure that every line of code contributes to inclusive design. Key Responsibilities

  • Build and optimize accessible web interfaces using HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript.
  • Evaluate and enhance accessibility (a11y) of existing UIs across multiple browsers and device types.
  • Partner with design and engineering teams to integrate accessible design principles
  • Translate accessibility requirements into development tasks and best practices.
  • Review front-end code to ensure WCAG compliance, ARIA best practices, and keyboard navigation.
  • Utilize accessibility testing tools like Axe, Lighthouse, NVDA, and JAWS to detect and resolve issues.
  • Maintain CI/CD testing pipelines with integrated a11y checks
  • Document accessibility standards and train peers on inclusive development
  • Contribute to the evolution of reusable accessible components within design systems

Tools and Technologies

  • Front-end: React, TypeScript, Vue.js (preferred but not mandatory)
  • Testing: Axe-core, pa11y, Lighthouse, Jest, Cypress
  • Accessibility devices: NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver, TalkBack
  • Design & collaboration: Figma, Storybook, Zeplin
  • Version control: Git, GitHub, GitLab
  • DevOps: Jenkins, CircleCI, or other CI/CD tools

Qualifications

Must-Have Skills

  • 4+ years of professional experience in front-end development

  • Proficiency in semantic HTML, scalable CSS, and JavaScript fundamentals
  • Comfortable implementing keyboard navigation and focus management
  • Hands-on experience with screen readers and accessibility audit tools
  • Clear communication skills and a consultative approach to collaboration

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working remotely with globally distributed teams
  • Exposure to international accessibility compliance laws (e.g., EN 301 549, ADA)
  • Familiarity with agile methodologies and iterative product development
  • Ability to mentor developers and conduct accessibility training sessions
  • Previous contributions to open-source accessibility initiatives
