Description
Remote Device Setup Expert
Deliver Effortless Technology Experiences Remotely
Can you turn device confusion into confidence? Join us as a Remote Device Setup Expert and empower users worldwide to connect and personalize their technology seamlessly. With an annual salary of $113,181, this role enables you to shape onboarding journeys that foster loyal, satisfied customers.
Why This Role is Essential
Technology only shines when users feel empowered. Many face challenges setting up devices or networks, and that’s where you step in—transforming frustration into clarity. You don’t just follow scripts—you tailor guidance that builds absolute trust from the first interaction. Your work ensures users feel competent, not just compliant. When devices feel intuitive, users tend to stay longer and recommend them to others.
Create Seamless Onboarding Moments
Personalized Setup Guidance
You’ll guide customers through new device setups ranging from laptops and routers to smart home hubs and mobile phones. Rather than overwhelming users with instructions, you simplify each step with relatable explanations that make it easier for them to follow. Whether they’re configuring privacy settings or syncing multiple devices, you’ll provide direction that adapts to their level of technical experience.
Build User Independence
The goal isn’t just solving one problem—it’s setting users up for long-term success. You’ll use tools like remote screen sharing, annotated walkthroughs, and short tutorial clips to reinforce understanding. Post-session follow-ups and simplified instructions help users repeat the process confidently in the future. Empowered customers reduce future support volume while enhancing satisfaction.
Drive Meaningful Impact Every Day
Troubleshoot with Purpose
When devices don’t behave, you’ll be the calm voice of reason. You’ll assess issues from both the hardware and software side, guiding users through diagnostics and configuration adjustments. Each issue resolved becomes a chance to educate the user, not just fix the device. You’ll identify common patterns you notice and elevate them to the product team, so that setup flaws can be addressed at the source.
Collaborate Across Teams
Your voice matters. The issues you spot and the questions you hear most often reveal what needs improving. You’ll collaborate with designers and engineers to streamline setup flows and reduce unnecessary steps. You’ll also help support and documentation teams create content that truly meets user needs, based on honest feedback rather than assumptions.
Work with Cutting-Edge Tools
You’ll rely on a suite of modern tools to deliver top-tier support:
- Secure remote access platforms for real-time troubleshooting
- Slack, Zoom, and Loom for asynchronous and live communication
- Jira or Notion to share trends, track issues, and contribute ideas
- Internal wikis and AI-guided support assistants to find answers quickly. These tools enable you to work independently while staying aligned with your colleagues, clients, and product development teams.
What Makes You Successful
Empathy-Driven Communication
You simplify complex ideas into clear next steps. Your calm tone and encouraging presence turn stress into trust.
Curiosity and Growth Mindset
New tools, updates, and devices don’t faze you—you enjoy learning and staying up-to-date. Your adaptability enables you to support today’s technology while preparing for tomorrow’s.
Strategic Problem Solving
Rather than just fixing surface-level errors, you look for deeper patterns. You identify recurring customer pain points and propose improvements proactively.
Clear Documentation
You don’t just solve—you articulate what worked and why, helping others benefit from your insights and spreading useful knowledge throughout the team.
Your Remote Work Environment
This role is fully remote, but never disconnected. You’ll work within a collaborative culture where performance is measured by outcomes, not hours. You’ll have autonomy in managing your day, but you'll also have support when you need it. Weekly team syncs, knowledge sharing, and opt-in projects provide ongoing opportunities for you to contribute and stay meaningfully involved.
Our leadership encourages asynchronous communication, making it easy to share ideas even across time zones. You’ll also have access to professional development stipends, internal learning tracks, and mentorship opportunities to grow your career in technical support, customer success, or even product strategy.
Your Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience in device setup or remote technical support
- Familiarity with a variety of platforms: Android, iOS, Windows, macOS, smart home ecosystems
- Experience using remote troubleshooting tools, CRM platforms, and helpdesk ticketing systems
- Excellent communication skills—you simplify without dumbing down
- Skilled at staying composed in high-pressure situations while managing multiple conversations empathetically
- Bonus: exposure to customer journey mapping, user experience research, or QA testing
What You’ll Achieve in Your First 90 Days
- Onboard into our remote systems and understand our setup support philosophy
- Complete shadow sessions and begin leading user calls confidently
- Contribute to internal documentation based on common setup friction points
- Identify 2–3 areas in our setup flow or knowledge base that could be improved
