Description

Remote Data Scientist (Math Focused)

Introduction: Shape the Future of Data-Driven Decision Making

Do you see complex datasets as stories waiting to be told? Can you turn ambiguity into actionable insights with mathematical precision? We believe transformative business decisions happen at the intersection of analytical expertise and imagination. Here, you’ll empower our teams to unlock growth using rigorous statistical analysis, predictive modeling, and advanced quantitative methods—working remotely with all the tools and trust you need to thrive. If you’re energized by using your math-driven curiosity to solve meaningful problems, this role is your canvas.

The Impact You’ll Make

Your mathematical approach won’t just build models—it will power every critical decision we make. Your innovative algorithms will help optimize operations, reveal new market opportunities, and enhance customer experiences at scale. Imagine your solutions driving smarter investments, automating decision points, and assisting teams to anticipate what’s next, not just react to what’s already happened. From experimenting with time series forecasting to architecting robust data pipelines, your work will touch every part of our organization.

What You’ll Tackle

Data-Driven Innovation

  • Mine massive, messy datasets to identify key patterns, outliers, and trends that move business metrics.
  • Develop, validate, and iterate on machine learning models—such as anomaly detection, regression, and classification—with a focus on real-world impact.
  • Collaborate with product and engineering partners to translate business challenges into quantifiable solutions and actionable dashboards.

Advanced Mathematical Modeling

  • Craft and test hypotheses using robust mathematical frameworks—probability theory, linear algebra, and optimization techniques—to solve ambiguous problems.
  • Build scalable predictive models that enable leadership to forecast outcomes, optimize resource allocation, and mitigate risks.
  • Create simulation models that enable teams to anticipate various scenarios and select the most effective paths forward.

Data Infrastructure & Automation

  • Design and refine automated data pipelines using modern ETL tools to ensure data is always accessible and reliable.
  • Work with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) to implement scalable, secure analytics environments.
  • Partner with engineers to optimize database structures and deploy models in production environments.

Tools, Tech, and Collaboration

Our remote collaboration stack includes Slack for async brainstorms, Notion for documentation, and Zoom for team deep dives. You’ll write code in Python or R, leverage libraries like NumPy, pandas, and sci-kit-learn, and visualize insights using Tableau or Power BI. Git keeps versioning simple. At the same time, Docker and Kubernetes help scale your solutions. You’ll also work closely with business analysts, product managers, and data engineers, blending expertise to drive projects that matter.

What Sets You Up for Success

  • Advanced degree (MS/PhD) in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Deep experience building and interpreting statistical models, with hands-on knowledge of supervised and unsupervised machine learning algorithms.
  • You simplify complex ideas—whether it’s over Zoom or Slack—and have a knack for transforming numbers into narratives that drive action.
  • Mastery of Python or R, plus SQL for querying relational databases.
  • Experience deploying solutions in cloud environments and using DevOps workflows.
  • Curiosity, creativity, and the confidence to question assumptions and experiment with new approaches.

Work Environment: Remote-First, Growth-Oriented

We move quickly, but you’ll always have space to focus intensely. Autonomy is the norm, and support is always a message away. You’ll own projects from exploration through to deployment, and your influence will be felt across teams. Whether you prefer heads-down analysis or real-time collaboration, you’ll have the flexibility to work the way that suits you best.
