Medical Coding Specialist - Abu Dhabi

As a Medical Coding Specialist, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of medical records through proper coding. Your primary responsibility will be to review patient medical records, translate diagnoses, procedures, and medical services into alphanumeric codes, and ensure compliance with established coding guidelines and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Coding and Abstracting: Accurately assign appropriate ICD (International Classification of Diseases) and CPT (Current Procedural Terminology) codes to diagnoses, procedures, and services documented in patient medical records.
2. Review and Validation: Conduct comprehensive reviews of medical documentation to ensure completeness, accuracy, and compliance with coding guidelines and regulatory requirements.
3. Data Entry: Enter coded information into electronic health records (EHR) systems or coding software with precision and efficiency.
4. Query Resolution: Collaborate with healthcare providers to resolve any discrepancies or documentation issues, ensuring accurate code assignment.
5. Compliance: Maintain current knowledge of coding guidelines, regulations, and compliance standards, and ensure adherence to industry best practices.
6. Quality Assurance: Participate in quality assurance initiatives to uphold coding accuracy and integrity, including audits and regular performance evaluations.
7. Education and Training: Provide training and support to healthcare providers and staff on coding practices, documentation requirements, and compliance standards.
8. Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and contribute to the development of coding policies, procedures, and workflows.

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management, Medical Coding, Nursing, or related field preferred. Relevant certifications (e.g., CPC, CCS) are highly desirable.
• Experience: Previous experience in medical coding or healthcare documentation is preferred but not required. Freshers with a strong foundation in anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology are encouraged to apply.
• Skills: Proficiency in ICD-10-CM/PCS and CPT coding systems. Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and problem-solving abilities. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively in a team environment.
