Job Summary: As a Medical Coder, you will play a crucial role in the healthcare system by accurately assigning appropriate medical codes to diagnoses and procedures. You will ensure that healthcare providers receive proper reimbursement for services rendered and contribute to maintaining accurate medical records. This position requires attention to detail, proficiency in medical terminology, and a commitment to upholding confidentiality and compliance standards.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Assigning Medical Codes: Accurately assign ICD (International Classification of Diseases) and CPT (Current Procedural Terminology) codes to diagnoses, procedures, and services documented in patient medical records.
2. Reviewing Medical Records: Review patient medical records to identify relevant diagnoses, procedures, and services, ensuring completeness and accuracy for coding purposes.
3. Compliance: Adhere to all relevant coding guidelines, regulations, and compliance standards, including those set forth by governing bodies such as CMS (Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services) and AHIMA (American Health Information Management Association).
4. Communication: Collaborate with healthcare providers and other healthcare team members to clarify documentation and resolve coding-related queries.
5. Data Entry: Enter coded data into electronic health records (EHR) systems or coding software accurately and efficiently.
6. Quality Assurance: Conduct activities to ensure coding accuracy and completeness, including coding audits and ongoing education and training.
7. Continuous Learning: Stay updated on changes and updates to coding guidelines, regulations, and industry best practices through ongoing education and training.
8. Confidentiality: Maintain strict confidentiality of patient health information (PHI) by HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) regulations.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Education: Minimum high school diploma or equivalent. Certification in medical coding (e.g., CPC, CCS) is preferred but not required for entry-level positions.
• Experience: Prior experience in medical coding is advantageous but not mandatory. We welcome both Fresher and Experienced candidates.
• Knowledge: Proficiency in medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and disease processes. Familiarity with ICD and CPT coding systems is beneficial.
• Analytical Skills: Strong attention to detail and the ability to interpret complex medical documentation accurately.
• Computer Skills: Basic computer proficiency, including familiarity with EHR systems and coding software.
• Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to effectively communicate with healthcare providers and team members.
• Ethical Standards: Commitment to upholding ethical standards, confidentiality, and compliance with regulations.
