Job Description:

As a Medical Billing Associate, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and efficient processing of medical bills and claims. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

1. Billing and Coding:

• Accurately reviewing and analyzing medical records, diagnoses, procedures, and treatments to assign appropriate billing codes.
• Ensuring compliance with medical coding guidelines and regulations, such as ICD-10 and CPT.

2. Claim Submission:

• Preparing and submitting medical claims to insurance companies, Medicare, Medicaid, and other third-party payers.
• Following up on outstanding claims and denials to facilitate timely reimbursement.

3. Insurance Verification:

• Verifying patients' insurance coverage and eligibility prior to services being rendered.
• Communicating with insurance companies to resolve discrepancies and ensure accurate billing.

4. Payment Processing:

• Posting payments and adjustments to patient accounts.
• Reconciling accounts receivable to ensure accuracy and completeness.

5. Customer Service:

• Providing excellent customer service to patients, healthcare providers, and insurance companies regarding billing inquiries and disputes.
• Resolving billing-related issues in a professional and timely manner.

6. Compliance and Quality Assurance:

• Adhering to all relevant healthcare laws, regulations, and ethical standards.
• Participating in quality assurance activities to maintain high standards of accuracy and efficiency.

7. Training and Development:

• Participating in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to stay updated on industry trends and best practices.
• Mentoring and coaching junior team members as needed.

Qualifications:

- Minimum 12th standard education required; Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or related field preferred.

- Prior experience in medical billing, coding, or healthcare administration is desirable but not mandatory for fresher candidates.

- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

- Proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Office and billing software.

- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
