Key Responsibilities

  • Review and critique application materials for accuracy and effectiveness.
  • Help students develop timelines and application strategies tailored to their interests.
  • Provide feedback on resumes, extracurriculars, and recommendation letter strategies.
  • Stay updated on admissions trends, scholarship opportunities, and university criteria.
  • Deliver virtual workshops or webinars on college planning and essay writing.
  • Maintain detailed records of student progress, advising notes, and follow-up plans.
  • Communicate clearly with students and their families to manage expectations and deadlines effectively.
  • Help students research academic programs, financial aid packages, and housing options.
  • Prepare reports on advising outcomes and track student milestones.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Core Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Counseling, Psychology, or a related field
  • 2+ years of experience in college advising, guidance counseling, or admissions
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong understanding of U.S. college admissions and financial aid processes
  • Experience supporting students with diverse academic and cultural backgrounds
  • Excellent time management skills and multitasking abilities
  • Technological fluency with standard remote tools and platforms
  • Empathetic, student-centered approach to advising
  • Detail-oriented with a proactive mindset for problem-solving
