Job Description:

As a Medical Coder, your primary responsibility will be to accurately assign medical codes to healthcare providers' diagnoses, procedures, and services. You will play a crucial role in ensuring that healthcare providers receive proper reimbursement for their services while complying with coding guidelines and regulations. Your duties will include:

1. Reviewing and analyzing medical records, including patient charts and documentation, to assign appropriate medical codes accurately.
2. Utilizing knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and disease processes to assign accurate codes.
3. Adhering to coding conventions and guidelines established by regulatory authorities, including ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS Level II.
4. Collaborating with healthcare providers and other healthcare team members to clarify documentation and ensure accurate code assignment.
5. Staying abreast of updates and changes to coding guidelines, regulations, and industry best practices.
6. Maintaining confidentiality and security of patient information by HIPAA regulations.
7. Participating in coding audits and quality assurance activities to ensure accuracy and compliance.
8. Providing coding education and training to healthcare providers and staff as needed.

Requirements:

• For Freshers:
  • No prior experience is required; however, completing a certified medical coding training program is preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and coding principles.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in computer skills, including MS Office applications.
• For Experienced Candidates:
  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience in medical coding in a healthcare setting.
  • Proficiency in assigning ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS Level II codes.
  • In-depth knowledge of coding guidelines and regulations.
  • Experience with electronic health records (EHR) and coding software.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to adapt to changes in coding regulations and technology.
