Job Description:

As a medical coder, your primary responsibility will be to review clinical documentation and assign appropriate medical codes to diagnoses, procedures, and services provided by healthcare providers. You'll work closely with healthcare professionals to ensure that patient records are accurately coded for billing and reimbursement purposes. Key responsibilities include:

1. Reviewing Medical Records: Analyze patient medical records, including physician notes, laboratory and radiology results, and other documentation, to accurately assign appropriate medical codes.
2. Assigning Diagnostic Codes: Assign ICD (International Classification of Diseases) codes to diagnoses and CPT (Current Procedural Terminology) codes to procedures, ensuring compliance with coding guidelines and regulations.
3. Ensuring Accuracy: Conduct thorough reviews of coded data to ensure accuracy and completeness, making any necessary corrections or adjustments as needed.
4. Compliance: Stay up-to-date with changes in coding guidelines, regulations, and compliance requirements, ensuring adherence to all relevant standards.
5. Collaboration: Work collaboratively with healthcare providers, billing specialists, and other team members to resolve coding-related issues and ensure timely and accurate billing.

Qualifications:

• Education: A degree or diploma in healthcare management, medical coding, or a related field is preferred. However, candidates with relevant certifications or training programs in medical coding will also be considered.
• Certification: Certification from AHIMA (American Health Information Management Association) or AAPC (American Academy of Professional Coders) is highly desirable but not mandatory for freshers.
• Knowledge: Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and disease processes. Familiarity with ICD and CPT coding systems is preferred.
• Skills: Excellent attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills are essential. Proficiency in computer skills, including MS Office and coding software, is advantageous.
